I would have thought a beep test is very important for a midfielder. If you have a natural footballer (e.g. Scharenberg)with a have a poor beep test and poor disposal then you don't have much of a future. If you have a natural footballer (e.g.Clarke) with a good beep and good kicking test (when they are considered your weakness) then you have a future. If Scharenberg can't make it as a mid then what is he?

Depends

If Scharenberg can find 25+ possies regularly with a poor aerobic capacity what could he do if you could build his tank?

But it isn't a great result, and at this stage I would have many ahead of him. In saying that if we have picks in the 40's and he slides there why not.

I would still pick sharenberg if he slides. He just seems like a slider who will make clubs wish they had selected him earlier

I think 'the vibe' is that he's pretty desireable. And of course the crer-related meltdowns would be fun. But firstly he'd be highly unlikely to not be F&Sd by either, or not want to be. And second if we did snag him he'd probably just serve his 2 years then request a trade out anyway.

Looks more likely to nominate for the Hawks but given their interest in JOM and Titchell will they have much left to pick him up?

1 - That doesn't bother me, if he is likely to surpass them id pick him up in a heart bead. Did very well in the skills testing at the combine.

2 - yea i can certainly see the hawks struggling. Surley they have to hand over their 1st and second (and a player/future pick) for both this two so that just leaves a 3rd. with the crows second pick currently being a 3rd. if no one else takes him late2nd/early third that positions us well to steal him should he not go f/s and go through to the draft.

Will Hayward is a name to follow. The South Australian half-forward kicked nine goals in a SANFL under-18 preliminary final and backed it up with four goals in his team's Grand Final loss. He enjoyed a good combine (he was top 10 in the 20-metre sprint, vertical jumps and clean hands tests) and is likely to be the first player drafted from his state, potentially in the top 25. - He may slip down to the pick in the third round that we have but if Port are looking at him then trading for a second round draft pick should be a priority.

Are we any closer to knowing who will be the No.1 pick?
In short, yes. It's been a wide open field for the No.1 spot all year but most recruiters tend to think it is now a race in two: Hugh McCluggage and Andrew McGrath. - Although it's not expected to mean anything to Port; players do slide but 2 to 9 is stretching it a bit.

O’Connor also starred with Dingle at underage and senior level and is a grand-nephew of the great Tom ‘Gega’ O’Connor who played in seven All-Ireland finals for Kerry and his mother Mary is a first cousin of Tommy Doyle, Kerry star of the 80’s.

Medium forward/ midfielder from Ireland who is one of the brightest prospects in the Gaelic football. Has an outstanding work rate, elite endurance and is composed with the football making great decisions. Strong overhead mark using his natural leap and clean hands in winning the ball. Played in four All-Ireland finals at school and Under-18 level in last two years winning all four championships and best player in three of them.


Seems we should be interested can't find vision of him though.

Is there likely to be a good inside mid at pick nine? Seems like all the best are academy players or gone before our pick and the other highly touted players are more half forward/back types.
