Draft Combine special on Fox Footy.

Ben Dixon and the other guy believe our primary need is a classy HBF'er to complement Pittard.

I can't see SPS failing on his defensive ability alone. He seriously looks like Cyril Rioli with his ferocious tackling and ability to run his opponent down. He might take a bit to be able to adjust to the pace of AFL and have some size and strength to be able to break tackles the way he does in the juniors, but defensively he will be more of a strength than a liability from the get go, I'd say.

This vid is from last year as an underager, but is his best highlights package I'd say - he still did some nice things this year, but injury derailed his season a touch.

Oooohh... Cat like! Stays on feet.

Got to see more of Petrevski-Seton in 2015 than this year, but was pretty excited with his game as to me it appeared he had a lot of similarities to the way Judd/Shiel play. Prowled stoppages menacingly, explosive and had that same sort of build with the big shoulders and arched back.

Doesn't appear quite so big in comparison with his peers than how I initially perceived, but I don't think he's small and won't have trouble putting on the weight.

Words fail.

The McCarthy trade affects who is likely to be available at #9. Here's the new likely lead up to #9-

#1 ES McCluggage
#2 BL [Bowes] McGrath
#3 GWS SPS
#4 GC Bowes
#5 CA Brodie or Ainsworth
#6 RI Brodie or Ainsworth
#7 FR English
#8 GC Taranto

We are likely to get the choice of Scrimshaw, Marshall, Drew, Venebles, Louge, Berry, Battle, Florent, Sympkin.

At this stage a slider from the top 7 midfielders is unlikely but we probably need one unexpected bid (i.e. GWS going for Marshall at 3) then we might just get our top shelf mid.

Good summation mate. If we get that close to Taranto I'll be upset!

Can't see SPS getting past freo now at 7 - if that far at all. From the remaining ones you have highlighted - who do we take ? Venebles??

If it does pan out like that, we are in the second tier of draftees- all of them have a question mark over them. Is Scrimshaw more than a HBF? Is Marshall lazy or was he cooked by season's end due to no pre-season? Can Drew win his own ball in the midfield against better opposition (he didn't play there in the Champs or the All Star game)? Can Venebles get over his inconsistency? Can Louge play midfield as well at senior level as he did at Colts level?

I think you could throw a blanket over this lot but my guess as to who we would pick- Scrimshaw. Why? His Sandringham talent manager is Ryan O'Connor who played at Port, won a Magarey and who is a huge wrap for Scrimshaw. I assume he has an ongoing relationship with the Port recruiters.

I think Freo would take Marshall at 7. They have been hanging out for a kpf for decades.
But they just got Cam McCarthy. Replacing Sandilands with the best WA ruck prospect since Gardiner might just see them go for English.

It's funny watching football and what makes an impression on you.

I saw Drew playing as a defender in the allstar games. He was a couple of metres away. He didn't look that big to me. His eyes lit up with fear. He looked like someone who didn't know what to do with the ball. Panicked, fumbled, poor disposal. Based on stuff all he isn't going to be a good midfielder.

Florent directed traffic brilliantly right infont of me. He knew what he was doing. He might not be my top pick for number nine but i would be happy.

Scharenberg looked like a broken dude who knew he couldn't kick.

I don't understand McGrath as 1 or 2. Looked like a meh footballer. Small. Not damaging.

Want SPS. He would boost our crowds. Level above.

I think someone will take Scrimshaw before our pick.

Berry has intensity in his eyes. Shame he seems to be a defender.

Didn't love Taranto even though he was meant to be BOG. I think he would struggle in a losing side.

Anyway. Ramblings.

Drew is a much bigger body, similiar to a Kennedy or Wines

He didn't look big.

Looked it up. Drew 188cm 78 kg
SPP 188cm 83 kg
Clarke 187cm 85 kg.

SPP and Clarke looked like better footballers, marks, movers, stronger, more confident and better athletes.

Drew looked ave. Maybe its the red hair.

Bookmark. Drew wins Brownlow in a couple of years. :)

Not ramblings at all. Your observations are better than mine. I've seen what's on TV, in the papers and the Big Footy draft board. Nothing beats seeing them live.

I also know that we have had a penchant for drafting big midfielders and I'm assuming that hasn't changed as we look likely to lose Ah Chee. The hope was he would fill this role next to Ollie. I have Drew in the mix purely because KM has him at 10 in his power rankings as an 188cm inside mid.

If you go to page 54 of this thread and follow the link to the Age Combine Harvester you will see why I think O'Connor will be at us to pick Scrimshaw. If three of Scrimshaw, Bowes, English and Marshall are gone by #9- we take the slider from the top 7- most likely Taranto but maybe Ainsworth or Brodie. Taranto was BOG in the TAC Cup GF until McGrath had something like 28 possessions after half time and then BOG in the All Stars- thus the love for those two. Strong rumour was GWS are desperate for a rebounding half back (they've got just about everything else) and McGrath is why they wanted to improve their draft position.

Florent played well in the big games too for Sandringham and the losing All Stars team but seems to have been played mostly as an outside mid and forward. Again, read Ryan O'Connor's comments on him in the Combine Harvester. Florent's dad died this year (shades of Travis Boak). Given that the rating of the Sandringham players will be vital at our pick, Ryan can count on a few beers coming his way out of PAFC petty cash in the next month.
