You won't see me get upset if we get Bolton.I want to see us draft Shai Bolton, Jake Pitman & Tyson Stengle for the reaction
If my memory is correct, I was very happy with Robbie on the strength of what his TAC coach said in the Draft Edition of Inside Football. I value those coaches comments because they see these guys every week over one or two years. My memory of when we drafted gray with that late pick people went gray who, then watched the highlight videos and we all got a bit excited from what we saw. I think a lot of people really liked that gray pick straight away.
Whose your suggestions then? Talls forwards with picks we have ? I don't like Kerr with our picks. Probably not battle either. Leaves Marshall or Brennan cox.

Agree with most of this with the exception of Marshall. I reckon he's as vanilla as they come for his size. Does have skill but not a strong mark or good kick for goal. He doesn't run hard both ways either.I'm pretty much settled on Marshall at 14 unless a crazy mid slider. One of Florent, Spp, Hayward and Bolton at 17. One of the millions of genuine mids at 30. (want Clarke) If there is a slider from the above pick them otherwise battle, Sproule, cox or another real mid.
Late picks for backup forward / ruck (darcy Cameron), maybe Parfitt...rookie olango / ladhams / darcy.

If that's right then I'm even less enthusiastic. Like most I'm basing this on the u18 all star game that I watched and a few minutes of highlights. His contested marking is probably his #1 selling point
I agree we need a KPF, I'd rather Battle or Kerr. Kerr worries me with the strong Carlton connection, Battle appears more versatile. Having said all that if the guy we want is not available I'd rather we brought in Eddy in the rookie draft.I didn't like Marshall when I saw him but he was supposed to be shot by the end of the season. His contested marking is supposed to be his strong point. His kicking looked fine. If we don't get a kpf this year... when do we get one?

You'd be happy for us to draft him Macca?
Nah. In this draft 9 to 14 is not much of a shift at all in terms of player quality. Obviously 17 is not much of a change from 19, but upgrading 49 to 30 and 31 is very big.Pick 9 could have got us a very good player and we would probably have the same chance of getting someone worthwhile out of 19 and 49 as 17, 30 and 31.
Not the point I was making. I stated that our record with 30s picks is not good, and 49 could be just as good as a couple of picks in the 30s. Losing 9 could mean we pass on someone like Jack Scrimsjaw or Jarrod Berry.Nah. In this draft 9 to 14 is not much of a shift at all in terms of player quality. It's been said in numerous places but the top 40 from this draft all have shown a lot of top end talent, with maybe the consistency or lack of x factor the question marks. It would have been a bit unlikely to pick a good prospect at 49, but there will still be plenty of talent left to pick from at our picks in the 30s.
IIRC Selwood had injury concerns.I think most people were more annoyed that we picked Boak over Selwood and Thorp than Sellar.
People were more annoyed when we picked Paul Stewart that early too.

Macca didn't Marshall's coach make a comment along the lines that he (Marshall) was cooked by the end of the season. The 'footy experts' may in fact be judging his performances in his latter games of the year a tad unfairly? His contested marking is probably his #1 selling point
"Originally from the Plympton Football Club, Noonan likens himself to Hawthorn pair Isaac Smith and Luke Breust, using his elusiveness to goof effect while also providing defensive pressure."Conor Noonan, late or rookie type pick. Mid/HFF.

And then we picked Matthew's inferior brother at 71.2006 draft thread a great example.
"We drafted Travis Boak over James Sellar, WTF. I'm nuking my membership as we speak"
"Robbie who? Well we officially ****ed this draft up"

Are.... the old 'goof effect' has come back in vogue![]()
Sort of has a tyrone vickery feel about him. Pass on Marshall, Battle all the way..Agree with most of this with the exception of Marshall. I reckon he's as vanilla as they come for his size. Does have skill but not a strong mark or good kick for goal. He doesn't run hard both ways either.
