Is really hard to work out who may be available to us.

If we could get two of Berry, Taranto, Marshall and Daniel Venables with picks 14 & 17 then two of Battle, Powell-Pepper, Dylan Clarke and Joe Atley with our next 2 picks we would have done well I reckon.

Just looked at Berry's highlights playing Vic Metro. Looks good and has an accurate kick. I would be OK if we got him. I still want Battle and Jonty. Scharenburg would likely spend a year or two in the SANFL but Battle is first team ready.

Riley Bonner is going to be like a 5th draft pick for us this year.

If we nail the 4 and add Bonner, we are in a very good place.
And i would add Will Snelling...I see a natural footballer with Snelling who wins the hard ball and uses it well... plus he is strong and tough.
Have to remember he missed a lot of football with a foot injury last year as did Tommy Clurey.
We nail this draft along with our young core I see the future as very positive.

If we manage to get Berry and SPP with our first two picks then I'd be pleased. Then hope that one of the marking forwards is still there at 30 (Hayward, Sproule, Battle) and finish off with the best remaining mid.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking with one KPF & the rest inside mids who are ready to go from day 1.
Sproule looks a good prospect, I can see GWS taking him though.
Hayward finished the season well - would probably be competing with Young, Palmer, Gus for a spot?

One player who slipped my mind is Graham from Nth Adel. He goes alright as an inside mid.

Clarke over Graham for me!

Chances are slim. This rumour has less credibility than #whispers. But it is funny, to me anyway.
At least it makes sense; we're clearly comfortable with trading down because we have our eye on a bolter who Pick 9 would have been overs for. Clearly different types of players but with that sidestep and strength around the hips he's a dead ringer for Impey at times, so our recruiters would have form for that kind of player.

Going to be a very interesting and exciting draft for us!

With the delisting of talls, its an indication that we will be chasing height in draft. Marshall if available or Battle are now obvious targets.

What I find is the complete lack of agreement between posters on individuals. Person 'A' says player 'X' is a great kick, excellent inside ball getter, shows good composure, and points to video reflecting same. Immediately person 'B' says same player is slow, can't hit targets, is outside link man with no ability to play anywhere else, then proceeds to reference another vid showing those traits.

And the same goes for just about every player bar McLuggage.

Guess it just goes to show that there are a lot of very equivalent types of players this draft, each with their deficiencies, and it depends on what vids one has seen, and when those where done (earlier in season before player has shown development; previous years, etc), orwhat matches they have seen that player in.

So all subjective I guess - but this year more than any other I can remember!
FWIW, my ideal draft would be:

DFA's
No idea if we have someone in mind or not, but if true that Cam O'S has been delisted, then I suspect so.

Main Draft
1st pick - either Simpkin, Berry or Venables (general mid)
2nd pick - either Hayward, Battle or Sproule (forward)
3rd pick - either Mutch, Drew, Clarke or SPP (inside mid)
4th pick - either Liam Ryan or Debois (quick small fwd/part time mid)

Rookie upgrades
1st pick - Krakouer

Rookies
1st pick - either Olango or Cameron (development ruck)
* If no DFA's are selected, another option may be to upgrade Snelling, and select one more Rookie, therefore.......
2nd pick - Tye Bedford (quick outside runner/fwd)

Cat 'B' - Ariek Lual (guy from Norwood - KPP)

I think we we have to draft kids all with very effective foot skills. history has shown that by this age it is hard to rectify technical deficiencies, regardless of how good their other attributes may be

Alex Villis has a health issue (which I won't elaborate on) that will prevent him from being drafted. Very bad luck for the young man.

Why not just run off the picks to take from the top. Thats usually what they do. Obviously you won't get the first three but from there its anyone's guess who gets picked up.

A KPF would be nice, the stocks are small. I initially was cold on Marshall and bullish on Battle but that has flipped after I looked at the combine testing and found some more footage of Marshall. This 'speed endurance' factor is important and Battle doesn't have it even though he has excellent endurance.

Battle reminds me of SA lad Darcy Hourigan from the 2013 draft, not exactly the same but similar and could go far lower in the draft that what is being predicted. Hourigan was predicted to go mid draft but he never got picked.

If Marshall isn't available at 14/17 do we go for Hayward instead? He could play a Gunston/Sicily type role for us, I don't reckon he'll be there at 30/31. He fits the mold of a modern forward. Kicking bags in big games is always a great indicator, think Steele Sidebottom.

I'm of the opinion that we don't target a KPD. I think we have that covered.

Would like us to rookie a ruckman.

23 days to go.

Battle is nowhere near hourigan; hourigan was a fat plodder, mitch harvey like who couldnt jump over a tin can battle is far better athletically which should see him go within the first 30 picks.

I like hayward proven forward and if he becomes a pinch hitting mid boy oh boy

Kpd id like us to pick up one 193cm+ who can take gorillas not necessarily in the first 3 picks maybe rookie

I'm struggling with the kpf's this year. I really want to like them but can't. We need a kpf but you don't make a bad pick just because you need to!

Oh, there's a Port supporting potential draftee who hasn't been mentioned on this board once (that i have seen) who i a desperately want Port to pick with 85. I found him looking for a Hawks pick 88 in the mock draft. Seriously this draft is going to have some great depth. I really hope Port have been in contact with Brad Gotch about Brett Eddy. Hopefully they have been talking about picks other than Eddy. Jasper Pittard would make a great mentor.

At the combine, Battle performed:
- The worst standing vertical jump of everyone tested
- Was in the bottom 10% for both the running vertical jumps
- 2nd worst Agility test of everyone tested
- The worst repeat sprints of everyone tested
- Was in the bottom 10 for skinfolds.

Battle is a better player than Hourigan, but physically, they are pretty similar.

I really wish we had another pick in the 50-60 range as it is likely still going to be pretty good pickings then. 67 would be handy.

I always hate the notion of 'here you go, have this we don't need it', because invariably we could've found a use for it.

Of course, if we get a DFA then all is forgiven.

Dear God, he sounds like the re-incarnate of Grenville Dietrich.

Well he can actually run. He's one of the better endurance players in this draft.
