14: Berry/Simpkin
17: Marshall
30: Drew/Atley/Clarke
31: Drew/Atley/Clarke

I think Simpkin is a chance to slide a bit, but probably not as far as our second round picks. Certainly not as far as he did in our phantom draft!

I'd take Marshall and 3 mids.

Do we count Simpkin as a mid however ?? I've got a feeling the club has a hard on for him.
Simpkin in his highlights looks a forward/mid, no problem taking him with 17. A genuine inside mid will be there at our picks in the 30's. I agree with those who like Atley at one of those picks. In summary I'd like Marshall, Simpkin, Atley and Fisher. Geez I wish this draft would hurry up, not a patient man...

List depth on afl site says draft needs Gallucci at 14 and Witherden at 17 no thanks basically the two in our range i dont want

I dont think theres a need to take marshall at 14. We could get a really good player sliding out of the top ten like Berry, Venables, Florent, Hayward first. Brisbane will have the only pick between us because gws's 15 will either be taken away or gone to setterfield and they wont take marshall after taking hipwood, schache and skinner last year. They have bucketloads of young talls, they need quality mids and would take someone like witherden or simpkin before marshall.

Been saying this for weeks !

I haven't given up hope on English being the guy they thought would slide to 14 that they wanted at 9
English
Marshall then two midfielders would be a great draft

Its so interesting that we upgraded 19 to 17. There are so many reasons we could have done it, but one of my theories is we thought the player we wanted would be gone by 19, but 9 would have been too big a reach. So now we can take them at 14 if we need to, or let them go through to 17 if Brisbane/GWS won't take them. Of course there could be combinations of players we feel are strong, and this increases our chances of hitting those combinations.

I really don't know much at all about the draft but Simpkin, Marshall and SPP all seem to fit that idea for mine. Considering we delisted Schulz and Butcher maybe Marshall, if we missed him at 14 we could reach for Patrick Kerr at 17. Doesn't seem right to me though...

Really excited to find out though, that's for sure.

SO the Hoff was only 89kgs in his first afl season and played some games. Could Marshall who is similar to the Hoff physically, do the same?

Im not keen on English. reminds me a bit of blicavs (which isnt a bad thing) he just doesnt have a set position. He may develop into a ruckman or he may end up being a Westhoff jack of all trades and master of none. i think he'll probably be a good player eventually, just doesnt suit our needs right now when we're in our 'window'

Finally got to watch some video.

I'd be very surprised it we haven't got Gallucci seriously in our sights. May well develop into a ball winning mid, but clearly will start with elite speed, natural goal sense, fitness, elite leap and elite kick off both legs.

I am also on the Berry train. Looks like what we need

Marshall, Venables, Simpkin and Florent also all have something of interest. Would hope we steer clear of an outside player like SPS, and a flanker like Hayward. Logue & Scrimshaw offer us little. Perryman looks ok but hopefully someone else bids for him and GWS take him.

So I suppose I'd be happy with:
14 - Gallucci
17 - Berry

Not exactly what I would've hoped for coming into the trade period, but not bad. Would've loved to have taken someone like a Taranto with pick 9, but ah well.

Galluci is likely to be available at 30, and he is not an elite kick even though his action looks great

Galluci has been invited to the draft I believe. I don't think he's going to last to 30.

Marshall is on a steep learning curve. Did no preseason was playing cricket last year he hasn't played much football at all hasn't really put a dominant game at junior level yet and finished the season seriously banged up not being able to go through his paces at the draft combine.

Just wouldn't push him that hard without a couple of preseasons into him. That's not a knock just where he is at. Realistically he is a 3 year project and probably a good investment if we go that way.

The 205cm English doesn't have a set position? That's a weird comment to make. I would have thought his only position is ruck.

Many think he has the potential to be a KPP instead of a ruck.

Curious to know ur reasoning for SPP sliding to 31

looked a few of his videos, and i see him as being an un-natural footballer. he is an absolute terrier, but very raw and often just runs around like a chook with his head cut off. This draft really is a deep as people are saying. AFL website has him in the range of 15-35.

I'm struggling to get past Galluci's kicking style, there's something about the ball drop that gives me flashbacks of Kane Cornes, granted with much more penetration and less loop.

Simpkin looks an absolute treat, while it's impossible to teach the willpower Venables showed in those last few mins v Vic Country to will his team over the line in the clutch, after seeing so many of our players timidly retreat into their shell at the first sign of some onfield adversity this type of character needs to be a non-negotiable. Would be pretty happy with either of these two with a Todd Marshall at 17; otherwise we shouldn't be punting on any tween KPFs unless they have some outstanding points of difference.

The less loop and more penetrating being the thing. A Kane Cornes with that kick would have been incredible. You can see with that kicking style he is going to hit targets.

Could be that player were looking for at 205cm hes got the hight we lack looks like he can actuly mark the ball looks great at his feet for a big man imagine a ryder/ english compo would be sweet

But he wont be there so this is silly talk
