Love seeing Garthwaite so high in your rankings. Doesn't fit a need for us but will follow his career with interest.

Thanks for this.
Looks like Gallucci at pick 14 and Drew at pick 30 would be considered a win in your books.

Yeah i tkink Galluci is also such a good fit for us so yeah happy to pay 14 although his fair value is probably pick 18.

Drew at 30 would be good .

If we got thise two I could put up with us picking up two other players I dont like.

Powell-Pepper, Gallucci and Drew tick some boxes for us in combination.

.....
This and the fact that we don't have a 2017 first rounder are the two things that are constantly being left out.
o_O Serious? There was enough "pants-wetting" over this during trade week to refloat the Titanic! I think it is more like people have realized the decision is made, time to move on and focus on the immediate. Next year's draft will look after itself, and as KT has publicly stated, they can do something about getting into the first round if needed.

What is becoming clearer to me, is that the club has put itself in a position to to have 4 good selections in what is shaping up to be the best draft in years, and to immediately improve the list significantly.

By trading out 2018 first pick - easy as that ...

You know that not everyone has the exact same position on this, right?

Some are cool with it and that's fine. All I ask is that people tell it how it is, and not conveniently forget the main reason we have these additional picks is because we bought them with the credit card.

Worry about the bill later hey!

It's not that easy getting back into the first round = someone seriously good has to be up for trade. Have a look at this years "aggressive" trade period. Not one bite for players some thought were worth second or third round picks.

Well under Hinkley we don't generally trade players out considering he's done it once, trading David Rodan in 2012.

For Pick 88 lol.

Slightly concerning, I have to say.

I dont think anyone has "conveniently forgotten" about it at all. We all know what has been done, some as you say dont care, some do. I am ambivalent! It is what it is, and constant whining about it wont change it, affect it, or improve it in any way. The people we pay the big bucks to make these decisions now have to make it work! I actually think they can. If the cards fall our way, we could and up with better selections as a "package" from this draft then we would have by keeping our original '16/17 selections.

Its all moot until we see who they end up selecting ... then the melts can begin! ;)

Not having a 2017 first-rounder is something that really concerns me and the clubs'continued insistence we can trade back in fills me with no confidence at all. At the start of the trade period we had a big wait between our first and second trades but surely with some judicious trading we could have traded into having two trades before 30. Maybe not the best for this year and no comparison if you just look at the 2 first-rounders and 2 picks in the 30s we have. But it would have put us on an even keel for what is expected to be a strong KPP draft and would allow us to trade without having to worry about our draft position all the time.

"Ultimately we've gone from Pick 9, 49, 67, 85 in the draft, to pick 14, 17, 30, 31. That's a pretty good return. We just now need to nail this season otherwise we're stuffed."

"i don't mind losing pick 9 as we've gained THREE picks in the teens."

"We've gone from having 1 pick in the top 48 at the start of the week, to 4 picks in the top 31. I'm ok with that."

Conveniently forgotten. But when you leave out the 2017 1st rounder it sounds like a great deal!

I don't see the problem.
We take Ben Jarman with our pick in the 80s and trade him to the Crows next year for Pick 1.

4 picks inside 31 is great and gives us a chance to reload our list. In isolation it's something to get excited about.

However, we have the worst possible combination of picks inside 31 we could have realistically expected when you consider what we gave up!

Having 4 picks inside 31 in a strong draft doesn't imo make up for the fact that we ultimately undersold two first round draft picks!

I agree it has the potential to be the bomb, or it may just bomb. We'll have to wait and see.

My one (and only) point has been to just acknowledge reality. I'm not trying to be the Grinch on Christmas Eve here but let's not forget that some of these presents have been purchased on plastic.

I'm more in the grinch category right now! Haha

I'm judging our draft position (and essentially the two trades) based on (1) what we gave up (2) what we have now and (3) what we could have had for what we gave up (and I'm referring to better draft picks not the hypothetical players we may have missed out on with pick 9 or next years first rounder).

Don't get me wrong I actually liked our strategy, I just really, really hated the execution of it!

Even the mid-60s pick we threw away in the first deal would be pretty good to have right now!

We could've got a BJ out of it!

The lack of numbers is making this read particularly laborious. ;)
