My dream draft would be two of sympkin/berry/spp/venables/English/Marshall at 14/17 and two of Clarke/mutch/atley/scharenburg at 30/31.

Taking Brett Eddy as a rookie pick seems like a logical and realistic choice.

Taking Battle as well as Eddy just seems counter-productive given what else is available this year.

14 Simpkin/Venables
17 Gallucci/Spp
30 Atley
31 best available hoping for a slider Drew/Battle/Ridley/Bolton

Emma Quayle's part 3 is out. She reckons there will only be one other pick between our 14 and 17:

"With four picks in the first two rounds the Power have bought themselves some options and flexibility. It could be up to them to bid for GWS Academy youngster Harry Perryman, who is too good a player to get past their first pick. They're one of a few who could contemplate bidding for Gold Coast's Brad Scheer and Collingwood's Callum Brown and Josh Daicos later on, as well. Given the Giants will need to use pick 15 to secure Will Setterfield there will be just one selection – belonging to Brisbane –between Port's first and second picks. Jy Simpkin is one player they have been linked to and would make some sense given his high skill level; they need to get some good kicks in. Alex Witherden is another contender, and a player the Lions may look at too, so if Port want him they might need to go for him first. Could Jordan Gallucci or Daniel Venables reach them? Oliver Florent has some skill and versatility, and what about Will Brodie? It seems improbable he will be left on the shelf for that long, but who knows? Port's forward line needs more numbers and they may get a look at Will Hayward, an energetic lead-up player. The hard-running Josh Battle could be considered and it looks like they will get a call on key forward Todd Marshall, who started the season as a top-five prospect and tired, but can do some special things. That they are picking twice, and come back again at the start of the 30s when plenty of decent midfielders will still be around, might make it a worthwhile move."

I still don't understand how Brodie has fallen out of the top 5.

Interesting that only 2 AFL clubs have interviewed Jake Pitman from Norwood - Sydney and Hawthorn..

Just goes to show that both clubs are marching to a different beat to every other AFL club.

Here's a thought, who would we be likely to select if we were allowed to do academy-style bidding with our picks 30 and 31? 30 is worth 629 and 31 worth 606 or a total of 1235. This would be equivalent to pick 13. The other picks we have are above the level for a points allocation.

So right now, with academy bidding to change things up, it is looking like we will have something like picks:

14 & 16, 31 & 32, + about pick 74 and 83

or if Perryman is drafted pre-14 then we will end up with 15 & 17, 31 & 32.

Not too bad. I'm still not a fan of that pick 74 and 83 though, really dont feel like we needed to carry those empty spots into the draft but ah well. Friday night should be very interesting
