I'm more excited for friday night than i am for r1. We haven't been this pick'd up in years.

Hoping for a slider and a good combo: 2-3 best available mids. I can live with loosing pick 9 but really hope the pick before us doesn't pip us to the post...if ya know what i mean.

Why?

Never truely dominated/starred, only being drafted in the first round due to the lack of KPF in this draft, his height and the position he plays. We need midfielders now not a forward that realistically probably won't be afl ready for another 4-5 years if ever.

Why?

For me, he's too much boom or bust. The failures of the 2009 and 2010 drafts are still fresh enough that I'd prefer we take less risk with picks 14 and 17.

It probably isn't the be all and end all if we don't pick a tall forward this year, I've warmed to the idea of stacking up on midfielders, but i wouldn't be opposed to a tall forward in the 30s.

This was my thinking too until we traded next years first round pick. If we don't take a key forward this year we risk creating a greater list imbalance than our current midfield shortage.

Plus I think Marshal will be a beauty.

Unique is an overused word in today's society but Justin Westhoff is literally a unique player. There will never be another Justin Westhoff. Such a weird unit both on and off the field.

I see a few comments expressing hope that we'll pick gun midfielders at 14 & 17. I'm curious as to who those midfielders might be.

Midfielders who will probably be gone already:
SPS, Brodie, Setterfield, McLuggage, Taranto, Bowes

Flankers who clubs hope will be midfielders:
McGrath, Ainsworth, Scrimshaw, Simpkin, Hayward, Galluci, Berry, Venebles, Witherden, SPP

Midfielders who will (probably) still be there at 30/31: Clarke, Atley, Drew, Mutch, Sheer, Scharenberg, Poholke, Parfitt, Fisher, Graham

Which leaves Florent and Perryman as the only actual mids who will a) still be available at 14/17 and b) not be reaches in the first round.

Absolutely see the logic in targeting marshall and galluci/SPP at 14/17. They are special talents that won't last and fill needs. We can then target some quality if less exciting (than flashy flankers anyway) mids in 14 picks time.

I can't see us taking Simpkin ahead of Gallucci personally.

I can totally see us walking out of the draft with Marshall and Gallucci though, will depend on how the cards fall on the night I guess. I'd rather Gallucci at 16 though, with another mid @ 14.

Simpkin reads as Chad M11 if he's there and we pick him up I'd be pretty happy about it. I like Gallucci but Simpkin reads well and looks on another level on video.

If we could get Atly and Drew at 30 31 and SPP and Gulluci at 14 17 ill be stoked.

I really like Poholke and Drew. Hope they're both available at 30/31. Both genuine mids that could play next year.
Any of the mids Zakk Wylde mentioned at 14/17.
