Just putting this out there; imagine the melts if ee go dylan clarke pick 17

I'd be OK with that

16 - Brodie, berry, Simpkin, witherden, Hayward in that order
17 - Marshall or one of the above that gets through.
31 - Clarke, atley, poholke
32 - Cedric cox or one of the above.

Gives us a good spread of positions and talent accross the draft.

Could Bolton slide to 32? His size may cause this. If I was being critical, I couldn't see us drafting both Bolton and Jarman and 177cm and 175cm respectively.
However, don't think Bolton will be there at that pick. So replace him with Poholke/Drew and we're all good!
I don't have a problem with small forwards being sub 180cm. In fact it may even be an advantage. Where it does become an issue is when you have multiple smalls rotating through the midfield.

I agree though, there are plenty of players more likely to play AFL than Ben Jarman available at 79.

Meh. It'd be a reach, but we could do worse.

Parfitt and Battle are the realistic choices at 17 who'd get a melt out of me.

Not a Black Eyed Peas fan but I've got a feeling

FWIW, my best guess for the first 20. Not necessarily what I want, just who I think.

1. Essendon; McGrath
2. GWS; Ainsworth
3. Lions; McLuggage
4. GC; Taranto
5. GWS; Setterfield (bid match)
6. Carlton; SPS
7. GC; Brodie
8. GWS; Perryman (bid match)
9. Freo; Logue
10. GC; English
11. GC; Bowes (bid match)
12. Sydney; Scrimshaw
13; North; Florent
14; WC; Berry
15; Adelaide; Cumming (bid not matched)
16; Port Adelaide; Hayward
17; Lions; Venables
18; Port Adelaide; Gallucci
19; Bulldogs; Marshall
20; Sydney; B. Cox

Haven't listened to the podcasts due to just being flat out but I note you didn't include him in your phantom, have you got a strong opinion on him now?

Edit (Witherden)

When I did that phantom I excluded Witherden and Simpkin because I had done no research into them. Fair to say I still have very little on them but enough for me to get a feel for where they belong in the draft.
The first thing I did on watching him was remove the idea that he was a back flanker, he is a midfielder who can play forward or back which makes his transition into afl a lot easier. He is very good at getting the outside ball, he works hard to get to the position to receive the ball and he uses the ball well. Not so much that he is a brilliant kick but he weights and directs his kicks very well which makes him a good kick in game. He has very good lateral movement which is similar to Scrimshaw and Setterfield which helps him in traffic. In traffic he is very good at keeping his arms free and holding the ball until the right option appears by hand. He is not an inside beast but he will get in and fight and when tackled he is not a rag doll. Yeah he lacks a bit of zip but has larger legs than most his size which will help him inside. Just an all round good footballer, the highlight reel probably wouldn't have been that great as there are no wow moments but he is a modern footballer, moves the ball well and works the angles.

Haven't seen much vision of him but from what I've read Witherden sounds like a Hamish Hartlett clone. Maybe he'd be able to turn into the player we always hoped Hamish would turn into.
there is still time for Hamish to be that player..... i hope.

I would think he runs harder than Hartlett. Don't get me started.

Last Christmas
I gave you our picks
But in the Dixon trade
You gave them away
This year
To save me from tears
I hope we draft somebody special

A+ for concept, D- for execution.

:p

Would we really be interested in Jarman with our 5th pick.
I wouldn't be disappointed, however i reckon we are just playing games with the Crows heads.
Someone has to do that now that Alex Is On Fire has passed. Lest we forget.

The first thing I did on watching him was remove the idea that he was a back flanker, he is a midfielder who can play forward or back which makes his transition into afl a lot easier.

Why did you remove that idea though? He himself says his best spot is half back:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-11-...x-witherden-the-unlucky-playmaker-with-polish

He then says he feels he is versatile and can go through the mid and up forward, but Twomey also says he'll be a half back at AFL level in that vid.

I wouldn't be devastated if we draft him, I think he could be a very good player. But there's nothing to suggest that he's definitely going to be a midfielder at the next level.

Because he is to good through the middle with his ball use to be played at half back.

I think we can safely say they won't get any sanctions.
That's exactly what we all said about Ryder & Monfries!:(

Reported by AFL.com:
"Earlier on Thursday, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan spoke at the SCG and while he refused to go into detail on any possible charges or penalties, he hinted that the Giants' 2016 draft selections would be safe, as reported by AFL.com.au on Wednesday.
