I always dismissed the 'he'll blow up the world' narrative as counter-productve hyperbole.

Good to see President Mr Trump hasn't let me down...

This is a very odd tweet. Now I did finish high school so you university guys might be able to help me understand this better.

Is he saying the US needs to build more Nukes so the rest of the world is so scared of how many they have they will sensibly stop nuclear weapons production?

Wasn't trump suggesting during the election that more countries should have nuc's?

Keeping track of what his position is on anything makes you dizzy.

Why would a President with an isolationist platform feel the need for more weapons?
Makes total sense if we for example went nuclear to be isolationist and stop paying into the protection racket. Makes a little less sense for a nation that has enough nukes already to wipe out the galaxy.

We just have to stop thinking that he has a coherent, considered strategy, he's the equivalent of a bigfooty poster being elected prime minister of Australia, he's just spouts off on twitter without thought.

China is still starting 2 new coal reactors every week.

You make it sound like they are rushing green. They are rushing everything possible to meet insane growth demands.

Except now their economy is stalling but they still build on.
That's right... down from twenty five per week. They are rushing, for a country of 1.5 billion.
Have you seen the skies in China? Fuuuuck.

Partly because his new department of energy chief has found out that his portfolio of "energy" is mostly responsible for the management of radioactive material and hence, nuclear arms. Not oil and gas as the name may suggest. This is the reality, the commercialization and marketability of u238. LOL.

The 25 they built were small. The 2 they now build are massive. The total amount of energy coming from coal continues to grow massively.

And yes, China is a mess. The UN a few years ago wrote a report saying that upwards of 1 million Chinese people a year die directly from pollution. China had the report santised then buried.

And there is FAR more pollution there now.

If you're trying to convince us that the Pentagon & congress are mostly insane, then you're already preaching to the choir.

TLDR.
I did however find the pretext stimulating. I don't agree particularly though. I'm more of the opinion that the global economy consumes energy.
If you are dependant on fossil fuels, you will not be globally competitive in the near future. China itself has reached an untenable point already. That's why they are leading the world in the use of safe isotopes such as thorium.
There is no tomorrow for a China dependant on "energy reserves". (I presume you mean, carbon based. Coal, crude, even gas...) they know this better than anyone.
That's why it is extreme duplicity for trump to build policy around a drill baby drill mind set.
It is selfish, short sighted, self serving, dangerous and foolish.
Fracking is the camel filterless of fossil fuel harvesting, and he wants it.
Fossil fuels are finished. Except in the least industrious of nations. It's all hubris.
LOL
Yes in the future but right now and for the next decade the more you consume oil gas coal the higher your standard of living.

Nukes as a deterrent are essentially a defensive weapon, the strongest there is. To focus more on nuclear missiles or other delivery systems is to take a more defensive approach than power projection around the world, which has been the focus since at least the fall of the SU.

I bet ISIS are super scared Trump is going to stockpile more Nukes. Really going to deter them now. Well done Trump on completely comprehending how to do anything.
A strong campaign of inciendary bombing against military targets would do to trick. Maybe bombing thier sponsors would show actual resolve.

The whole problem of fighting isis is that there aren't military targets. There are civilian populations with isis in them.

Unless you're advocating for a modern day Dresden.

Lol! How many more do you think russia/US need to defend themselves? Given neither has fired at each other in several decades, why would more be needed for further "defence"?
