I think Green is worth more to us than any other club. A genuine goal sneak and I hope Fagan and co. will be able to transform his habits and efforts.

Not always a fan. But that was a belter.Just putting it out there, this is a candidate for comment of the year.
He fell away badly in his defensive pressure this year. He was never great, but very bad this year.He is a good small forward, if all you want from your small forward is forward running, and goal kicking, but realistically, small forwards haven't been able to get away with no defensive pressure for ten years.
He was a mid fielder as a junior and at one stage I know he wanted to break into the midfield rotation. I get the mpression though that at some stage in the last couple of years, he got comfortable being a small forward, and then just got comfortable, and once you stop trying to improve you go backwards quickly in this game. His skills with Banfields effort could have been special.

I'd be open to giving him a 1 year deal. If he doesn't cut it in the seniors there is a spot in the reserves.
I like the idea of taking him in the rookie draft if he's still available if we're giving him a one year deal.
I would wait until after the draft before resigning him. See how the market rates our academy boys. If they (or at least one of them) can slide to the rookie list then offer him a contract. I would be giving him a low base, but with high incentives. Not necessarily only based on games played, but also for targets, maintaining standards etc. Money can do a lot to incentivise people when nothing else works... and a clear signal he's at last chance. Some very harsh comments considering Green had an up an down season with a foot injury. Very hard to play football on one foot. If he can get himself fit and free of injury he has shown he can be very handy footballer. He may have made some outlandish contract demands and will just have to eat some humble pie but I would offer him a one year 100k contract with some incentives and see what happens this year.

We have secured the services of ruckman Archie Smith until at least the end of 2018.
Gardiner re-signing is a bit of meh for me. Slow undersized defender who gives away silly frees and is outpositioned too often. Personally I cannot see him being in our side when we get back to the finals. Depth player.
Gardiner is a really interesting one in the way he divides so many Lions supporters. I dare say it's almost 50/50 with how fans seem to rate him.
I'm personally a fan. Just a good old fashioned, shut down and annoy/frustrate the forward at all costs type of guy. Think he's had to deal with a ridiculous amount of forward 50 entries and pressure in his first few years of development but has still shown enough to be real cog in our future finals team.
Understand the reservations though. Just find it interesting the giant gap in how supporters seem to rate him.
I still see real star potential in Green. Can't even count how many times he's fired us up, I'd argue he's had more crucial match shaping moments than Zorko has.
Trouble with the Poodle is that those "moments" are all he offers. In between "moments", we don't get much out of him.I still see real star potential in Green. Can't even count how many times he's fired us up, I'd argue he's had more crucial match shaping moments than Zorko has.
