Report coming in from afl.com states that Lachie Neale has his shoulder heavily strapped, is consulting with medical staff and is in doubt for Sunday? Can anyone confirm this?
it's been strapped since the derby when lycett chicken winged him. There were concerns that he wouldn't play both games after that but he managed to get up for both of them. Something would have had to go pretty badly since last Saturday for it to have worsened to the point that he would miss Pav's last game.

I recon he'll be right.

Edit:
Here's Lycett's chicken wing, http://www.afl.com.au/video/smart-r...008&eventType=Goal&seek=383&videoQuality=high just after the bounce

I'm surprised it was never looked at, I suppose it was missed by most. These things stand out to me though, my recurrent shoulder injuries make it so my stomach turns when I see things like this.

Yes. He has his shoulder taped.
Yarran's knee is taped and Sandi has some tape on his fingers.

All likely to miss - if you believe the AFL.

I'd count on seeing them all on the park Sunday.

Cheers for that, that's why I'm asking here from our watchers since I can't make it down there, I don't trust a thing the AFL reports regarding Freo without confirmation.

to be fair i went done and i didn't see him do much at all, came out late for a job and some kicks, but i arrived late also.
heavily strapped but didn't see much to say he wouldn't play

So I attended my first training session today. Better late than never. Must admit I was a bit underwhelmed, not by the players, but by the amount of standing around going on. I get it is a Friday session so they don't want to fatigue the players but it is a Sunday game so was expecting a little bit more intensity. I really hope the guys are just saving themselves for the most intensity we've seen all season for Pav's last game. I'm used to train until you vomit intensity each week in every sport I've played. Obviously that's not the done thing at elite level anymore.

The more I see of Weller and Tucker the more I like. Was reading some of the phantom draft notes recently from Weller's draft year and he was regarded by many as the best kick of the bunch and watching him at training I can see why. Becoming more convinced we need these two launching the attacks from half back for us.

After first arriving I also liked the look of Ballantyne running through the middle until I realised he had swapped his jumper with Hill ;) Wanted to see Balic but I couldn't spot him out there unfortunately. Yarran seems such a focus up forward at the moment (unless the WB are reading this, in which case they really need to watch out for Mayne).

Like others have said, Neale wasn't out there much but participated in the game sim so I'd say he is more likely to play than not.

A few notes from today.

There were a lot of people under the verandah, but I suspect that most of them were media, because they only stayed for the first little bit and then left.
As far as I could tell, only the AFL squad were on the park, I only counted 25, but it was hard to be 100% accurate. No Zarke, Morra or Balic, there were few heads popping out of the gym, but I didn't see who.

Pav, Sonny, Neale and someone else (I was up the wrong end), had a very long and slow warm up away from the main group, as did Sandi and Griff, but they all fully participated in the Match sims, which seemed to be working on quick end to end transition.

Ross was in a pretty jovial mood, at one point jumping the fence to chat with some people he obviously knew.

For the rest of the training, I didn't really see any particular standouts, but it was pleasant day to be under the shady trees and watch the team (and the Great Man) for the last time this year at Freo.

Of note: The centre square group (Sandi, Griff, Apeness and the midfielders) spent a lot of extra time going over the centre bounces with Hale. They were out there long after the rest of the squad were in the sheds. I couldn't tell if one of the "rucks" might be an out this weekend. It seems as though we're going in pretty tall? We'll have a better idea this afternoon.

At the end of the session, Pav signed a heap of autographs and the fans who'd come down cheered him off as he went back inside.

I think that's about it.

Hmm maybe Griff getting a game ahead of Tabs? Don't agree but perhaps it is part of the sentiment selections!

I'm also coming around to the idea of Weller on the HBF but i also think it is important for his development to give him mroe time in the midfield as well as i think he has the ability to ebcome a goal kicking midfielder which is what we really need and him delivering the ball inside 50 is very important given his exceptional skills

I think all the current crop of young players freo had are quite flexible to play a few position apart from maybe blakely.( This might change in future)

Weller has to move into the midfield or at least wing next season. We can only afford to have one small HBF and Crozier has that role locked up.

Wellers pace and evasiveness will be crucial to balance Neale and Fyfes grunt in the midfield. And as you say, he's a goal kicking midfielder which is what we've missed the last 12 months.
