So much for depth...you would think testing times! However, the form of a lot of reserves players has been outstanding according to watchers (in particular grimlock) and whoever comes in seems to deliver the goods. That makes it kind of exciting!

Injury List
Abe Davis (ankle) 4-6 weeks
Alex Johnson (knee) indefinite
Zak Jones (ankle) 4-6 weeks
Jeremy Laidler (hamstring) 2-3 weeks
Harrison Marsh (hamstring) test
Lewis Melican (hamstring) 2-3 weeks
Sam Reid (calf/Achilles) 2-3 weeks
Dan Robinson (shoulder) 3-5 weeks
Michael Talia (foot) indefinite
Kurt Tippett (hamstring tendon) 5 weeks

Really disappointed to have injuries like this hitting us now. We need Melican right for finals.

Yep. Plan to have him return to the reserves in the next few weeks and then the Seniors in Round 22 along with Tippett

6 Defenders and 2 more who could play there if required  Looks like we might need to rely on Ted in defense again at some point, maybe even in a final :'(

Could be a blessing in disguise. Considering we considered our defence a weakness coming into 2016, it has been remarkable given the injuries to our defensive stocks, which we thought were weak overall, would concede the list amount of points with not a lot of continuity. Some kudos needs to go to our midfield or more broadly the players up the ground for this also.

At the start of the year if you said Ted was finished as a defender, our recruit Talia injured, Laidler out of the side (out of choice) and McVeigh with mixed form you'd assume we were going to have a very bad year yet we just played off for top spot.

This year we have unearthed Mills, Aliir, Jones and Marsh who all look like long term prospects as defenders (if we choose, Mills probably the exception).

2013, 2015 and 2016. Usually it's key players and at the worst time of year.

Hardly a "great run".

May have had great runs in numbers of injuries during a year

But bad luck most years to key players at key times

Not many premiers win the flag with 4-5 best 22 out

In 13 wAsnt it only shAw and reid out in the first final while Hawks had buddy and Cyril out and they still won by 10 goals ?
Don't think we had Goodes playing then in the semi final against Carlton we lost Mitchell and Tippett which meant we were shot for the prelim

2013 we were playing everyone injured. Bad policy.

In that final against the Hawks Tippo and Hanners rushed back early from injuries and played ginger. Jetta was just back from a long injury too and couldn't play a full game - had him as a sub. Rohan was also back and still looked sore.

We were cooked.

Then Tippo and Mitchell went down in the semi. McGlynn also did his calf in the semi but still played in the Prelim - another injured player to face Freo.

Walking wounded.

Interesting comparing our depth then and now. We had Cunningham, BJ, Biggs and Rampe all playing in that finals series - some of them under 5 games.

Dan Robinson said on 2UE yesterday that Tippett and Reid were 'on track' but I have no idea what this means in terms of when they will return.

Talk of reid returning lol

Wont make it through the 2s to even get a chance for a senior call

His year is done imo

Agree entirely with that. He is 2 weeks away at a minimum and then even if he does return, and that is far from certain, he would need a few weeks in the reserves. People forget he hasn't played a single senior game in all of 2016 and the season is almost over. Longmire should put a cross through his name in 2016 and focus on getting him right for 2017 as he isn't going to be playing finals this year.

Yep. You can miss the entire season and come back for the finals. Can't be done.
He did play in the magoos for 5 minutes so he hasn't been out the whole season. At least he must have trained to make match fitness so he's not starting from scratch.

This is me being hopeful because I think we could use him right now.

If he makes it back for round 22 then he is a chance to play finals, otherwise nope. And the suggestion is that he isn't ready for reserves so looking doubtful.

The last four games are too important for risk taking too so probably goes against him as well. Shame for Reidy he was looking good before last years injury, his defensive pressure was finally there.
