Tournament seems to be struggling. It might need a restructure i.e placing it at a different time or enticing players better. Could be dead within 3-5 years

It is good for the women's but regardless of what time you put it the men won't bother as the other tournaments are better.

Why do you say it's struggling? Attendance is still solid, the womens' draw is loaded and the mens is by no means a disaster for a 250 a week before a slam. The mens' draw may not be as good as it once was but you're not going to get a stacked 250 a week before a slam nowadays. You put it in week 1 and then Brisbane will be the same story in week 2 and any other week will attract a field reminiscent of Johannesburg when it was around. Unless they throw a ridiculous sum of money at an ATP 250 or appearance fees then they're not going to get an amazing field no matter where it is. Auckland has a slightly better entry list but that's not surprising. A lot of people seem to be also forgetting that Sydney has 4 of the Top 6 in the under 25 rankings. It's still an interesting draw imo.

So what happened? Saw the first couple of games and had to go out, did he retire because of the heat??? o_O

Just served double faults and put in no effort whatsoever. Was bizarre really. Could have easily beaten Thompson had he applied himself.

been watching a few hours each day and night and attendances on courts they've shown look absolutely poor. there would be lucky to be 1000 people watching groth currently. the womens draw is one positive ill admit but there looks to be much room for improvement

Cannot get over how bad Groth is. And I used to stick up for him when people just called him a servebot. His touch at the net is disgraceful, yet he still comes in off every serve, even I have a better volley than him I rekon

He is bloody ordinary, still admire where he's got to with such limited ability. For a servebot his serve isn't particularly good either, if he could just bang downs aces like an Isner or Karlovic then he could get some reasonable results.

Yeah, and he is still in this match somehow. Delbonis playing smart by dropping every return just over the net. Groths serve seems to go missing a bit in tiebreaks so I don't like his chances

If Groth somehow wins this set then he will win the match, seems to get enough of a look-in on Delbonis' serve but just misses too many volleys off his own serve.
