Says you. They regarded him highly enough 12 months ago to sign him up to 5 more years at decent coin, knock back multiple high picks from NM for him, and to top it off made him vice-captain of their club. The explanation you give above does not stack up IMO as to why things have changed so drastically 1 year on.
Clearly its me. All I've said is they want something significant for him or they'll probably keep him.
Hammer isn't a sh*t sandwich and he isn't a Brownlow candidate (at present) - his true value lies somewhere in between.

How many goals and marks did the bye kick and take on Grand Final day.
This denial of what Boyd did on Saturday is perplexing.
Fact is Boyd was in many eyes BOG on Saturday.
Boyd was no where near BOG, took a few UNcontested marks across the centre line late in the game, managed to kick a few goals out the back, was a marked improvement on his usual pitiful efforts and it seems everyone thinks he's become something he isn't. Kennedy was robbed of the Norm smith, Grundy was awesome across halfback, played waaayyyy better than Boyd.

as for the bye, the top teams the had the week off and only played 1 game in a month both lost........... says a lot i think

When theyre dead set keen on finals and a flag.... dont buy it

I think theyre selling whilst he still has value and they dont rate him as highly as some on here. So hes the obvious choice to trade out rather than others on the list

I think 1 were just incorrect rumours and i think youre onto something with point 3. I think theyre cap is screwed and the cost benefit of keeping him isnt there

This

I get the feeling port feel isnt worth what theyre paying him and he wont ever reach that level. I think hes the expandable one and the least effective mid.

Massive pass
You make some fair points, but I go back to saying what has changed in 12 months? At that time Port, NM and the Tigers all thought he was worth paying a lot of money for. Does talent really change that quickly? Smells like something's up to me. If Richo were to back himself to turn him around and shift him from a 18 possession a game half back in to a 20+ tackling midfielder with elite disposal (he's 2/3 on that already) then I'd go with that. [As long as we get him for the equivalent of #15-20 or less of course]

Agree with this, the bye definitely had an affect. I think it affected those teams significantly and took away the advantage of finishing in the top 4 and a lot of momentum.
It also allowed the Doggies to get back numerous injured players.
Boyd was very good, but I wouldn't say Norm Smith for me. Either Kennedy, or Picken, who I think turned the game for them.

Corr was very good in this years NEAFL GF

I do LOL how the arguments change though. When talking about the lee trade we apparently didnt rate anyone at that pick but now we rate corr because the rumour is we are interested in him
NEAFL isnt very good with the exception of the 4 afl clubs. VAFA div 3 is probably a higher standard

I dont disagree but in this instance the game was of very good quality as it was against the swans. Both sides were in AFL finals hunt so there were players playing for spots. Zac jones played and got knocked out cold late and he played this weekend in the AFL GF

Brother Cathal went Pick #14 (2005) in Rookie Draft to St Kilda.
Cathal was pretty unlucky actually... during GT's last year he was playing well in the 2's but also playing hurt. He was advised to go in for early surgery & that he'd be re-rookied. GT gets the flick, Ross comes in & clears all of the rookies out without having a look at any.

You're underestimating the pressure in a 2 team town from the media and fans. Port fans felt they were seriously flag contenders about 2 to 3 years ago and media were talking them up that way - they've since absolutely flopped and are heading south at the rate of knots. Kenny has one foot out the door and a boot centimetres away from his backside. If they can get a top #10 draft pick for him they'd take it and run.

I think all this talk of the bye taking away the advantage is bull.
It was the most evenly matched season of all time. This was the year to win it from outside the top 4. There was no real superpowers this year.
Which is why the Dogs being able to get injured players back was extremely beneficial to them. Gil even quoted it as being a reason why the bye was such a success. Sometimes that's all the luck you need in, as you say, a fairly even season.

Lee has played 4 games in the last two years. Corr is 3 years younger, already played twice as many games and was a former pick 12. I don't think we'd get anywhere near the same for Lee as what Corr would cost us.

I'd say Corr is probably worth a second round pick being contracted.

i still think you are better off having the bye after say round 20 that gives everyone that break and doesn't have too much of an impact on the finals teams

Lee and Eli would get picks, not much. Maybe together for a second, (doubtful)

More likely downgrading our first
