this worries me, from a port fan:
HH is my favourite player, but lets get a little perspective here. These guys (including Hamish), are paid incredibly well. Hamish was a top pick inside the top 5 of the draft. We supported him, looked after him through his formative years when he struggled with his body. He gets it together and plays some good footy in patches. He has never been consistent but has shown some real promise. I expect a player taken that high (and now paid that well) to be far more consistent than he has been. Then, according to reports, he holds a belief that he is not up to rigors of playing through the midfield regularly. I am sorry, but what a cop-out. No player is bigger than the club. Large portions of the fan base are complaining that there need to be changes (and not just the easy calls like Butch, Hoon etc), and HH is openly shopped around and people are feeling bad for him. Get a grip - this is a business, we are under performing. No player has a right to play for Port, it is a privilege. I am as disappointed as anyone else to see that Hammer will go, but it has to be done for the club to move forward and set a precedent that you cant just coast and its not an old mates club anymore.
I reckon Richo will know more about Hammer than most if not all on a fan forum, so if we get him I'll be very comfortable with what we're getting and doing.

spot on. i'm so 50/50 on it its not funny. one moment i'm like definite yes, lets get it done, other moments i'm not sure.

if the club thinks he can be an effective outside mid i think we do it. if its another HBFer i think we probably pass.

have the cap space too and we really need to start putting together a 22 that can troublesides come finals

Well if he holds a belief he can't take the rigors of playing thru the guts a bit then he can **** off.

Maybe the softy would like a wing position??

Imagine if we get no one this draft but fyfe....
I'd walk to work from the car park in me jocks and a Guernsey with my hair in a man bun

I suspect if we're keen, Richo wants him to go back to playing midfield, which is where he was presumably playing when he had 17 contested possies (33 altogether) against Fyfe, Mundy, Neale and co in a semi final a couple of years ago and so-on.

If he wants to come to Melbourne, as reported, which clubs would really be a chance?

Hawthorn- Not if they're getting JOM and Mitch. No
Geelong- Don't have a pick until the 30's and you'd have to wonder if they have the cap space. Would probably have to offload Motlop and some. Maybe
Carlton- Doubt he fits their age demo and they're already needing to do a deal for Marchbank and any other's from GWS's NEAFL side. Doubtful.
Collingwood- Not if they're already committing $1mil or so for Wells and Mayne, plus they don't have a first. No.
North- Does he fit their age demo if they're doing a bit of a rebuild? Had a big crack last year. Would he want to go there? Go North!.
Dees- Do they have the cap space after signing Hogan and Hibberd? Also no first. Could do with his finishing. Very doubtful.
WB- Do they have the cap space? Could be interested for his finishing. Maybe.
Essendon- Could be interested for their 2nd and probably have the cap space if they had it for JOM. Good chance.
Richmond- Doubt they have the cap space for both him and Prestia. Doubtful.
Added bonus...he would know Richo well, and what's not to like about him?

I could talk abou the fact that my mum had an accident yesterday. Got hit by a car. Police came, Wouldn't take the ambulance. Rang me, doctor came to visit. Xrays done fractured tibia or more. And now i am sitting waiting to see the orthopedic specialist.

My mum is 80
Hope she's ok mate

Have to ask the question though... does it effect her trade value & will she be able to do a full pre season?

i open this article thinking it was about pickett at GWS, what a twist

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/32808288/freo-west-coast-in-fight-for-pickett/#page1

Fremantle and West Coast’s desire to inject elite ball users into their squads has led to them weighing up recruiting South Fremantle’s Marlion Pickett in next month’s national draft.

The 24-year-old has been interviewed by both clubs following an impressive season.

The running defender has also attracted interest from several interstate clubs at a time when back men with his speed and sharp foot skills are in vogue.

Pickett elevated his game in 2016, averaging 18 disposals and five marks off half back for South Fremantle.

18 disposals a game for a 24 year old playing WAFL football. Hardly sounds like someone that is going to solve any problems does it? Good luck with that one Freo.

Give them next years 1st & swap this years... I know it's only 1 spot, but 9 is better than 10, unless the bloke we intend to take will def be available from 10-14. Florent?
Imagine we have a shocker with injuries etc and finish up 4th last.

I'd never get over it.

A Collingwood mate last year was pissing himself that with Treloar they were definite top 4 and reamed GWS on the trade with a future first rounder. He's not mentioned it since.

i'm genuinely shocked!!!! like dont get me wrong he has some pace, some good size and can break the lines at WAFL level but gee that certainly is one from out of left field

imagine trying to explain to your players at freo you let go long servants of the club, well liked players, like de boer and mzungu because they rightfully are not up to it, but then you go draft him. boy oh boy

I had the pleasure of working briefly last year with a renowned national sporting coach who had been previously employed by Port Adelaide in a coach mentoring role. This person was there during the Primus era and then for the first year or so of the Hinkley regime. Very briefly, it was very apparent that Richo had played a vital role in developing strong relationships throughout the club, from the boot studded to the President. This offset the abrasiveness that Hinkley is apparently renowned for.

There was no doubt in this person's mind that Richo's departure was felt heavily through all parts of the club... it's no real surprise to me that certain players (not all) may be happy to move into happier environments.

Did I just hear Tom Petroro say something about HH playing this season with a broken bone in his foot?

I'm firmly in the YES to HH camp. Can we get involved in the multi club deal with Richmond, Geelong & Port?

*Billy Longer & STK 2017 3rd Round Pick to Richmond
*Brett Deledio to Geelong
*Steven Motlop to Port
*Hamish Hartlett to St Kilda

Thoughts?

There was just a discussion on TR about what a loss Richo was to Port. I reckon he's one of the best developers in the biz right now. Very lucky to have him.
