It´s been mentioned that our midfield lacks speed aswell as the obvious issues regarding contested possession and winning clearances.
While we have Steven and hopefully Freeman comes on would we not consider looking at someone like Billy Hartung from Hawthorn ?
Been a fan of his and I´m a bit surprised he hasn´t got more opportunity with the Hawks. Sure he goes missing at times but he´s got
a neat set of skills and he´s very quick. Rotating through the middle and coming off half back like JJ or Wilson from GWS he could be a player to generate that outside run we lack in my opinion. Just putting it out there but a deal with Hawthorn involving Longer and some picks involved to also
get Steele / Hartlett could this be something to look at ?

I had the pleasure of working briefly last year with a renowned national sporting coach who had been previously employed by Port Adelaide in a coach mentoring role. This person was there during the Primus era and then for the first year or so of the Hinkley regime. Very briefly, it was very apparent that Richo had played a vital role in developing strong relationships throughout the club, from the boot studded to the President. This offset the abrasiveness that Hinkley is apparently renowned for.

There was no doubt in this person's mind that Richo's departure was felt heavily through all parts of the club... it's no real surprise to me that certain players (not all) may be happy to move into happier environments.

Did I just hear Tom Petroro say something about HH playing this season with a broken bone in his foot?

I'm firmly in the YES to HH camp. Can we get involved in the multi club deal with Richmond, Geelong & Port?

*Billy Longer & STK 2017 3rd Round Pick to Richmond
*Brett Deledio to Geelong
*Steven Motlop to Port
*Hamish Hartlett to St Kilda

Thoughts?
Richmond dont need Billy, they just resigned Maric.

I thought Richmond were interested in Motlop themselves and they've just re-signed Maric who surprisingly is only 30.

Hartung is hopeless
Disagree. 3rd year player. Rising star Nom. Beep test record holder trying to cement his spot in the a side thats won
three flags. He´s not hopeless at all. Same draft as Billngs, Dunstan and Acres to put into perspective development stage.

12 months ago I thought that Ivan was the Tigers' barometer... he plays & they go very well.

Now I think he's just about done & they've only signed him as insurance and to mentor their young rucks.... of which they have Ivan's cousin & no one else (Hampson is 29?).

Just a thought to keep the thread away from the painful loss of Chooms.

Richmond make some numbskull decisions. Theyre supposed to be rebuilding and they resign that past his use by date Mullet to partner Hampson
again ??? Lolmond are an amazing club. They´ll probably sell Jack for a future 3rd to GWS because they don´t rate him anymore.

hartung is one of the biggest down hill skiers, looked decent at times in one of the best teams we have ever seen.

yes he's young, but pass.
I still maintain that he isn't going to be on the table this year due to the fact that Hill is already 99% out the door.
Sure T. Mitchell plays a similar role far more effectively than Hartung, but getting rid of several of the same sorts of players in the one year seems ludicrous.

So, how do we get Hartlett and Steele for pick 10?

Steele and pick 16 for 10? - Probably have to give up our third as well to get that deal done.

Port don't have a second round pick to give back to us for pick 10, that would have come close.

They still have Smith and Rioli. He might wanna leave if Mitchell and JOM are coming.

What's his value though? Is he still worth more to the Hawks despite their depth in that field?
The only way he goes imo is as a set of reluctant steak knives.

Not sure why I really give a toss as he's not someone I particularly rate.

That's one view, a pessimistic view. But what if we went the other way and it's a steal...
Think the lower bound needs to be factored into the price. Probably a decent difference between 3 and 6, but no great difference between 11 and 14.

I hope our guys aren't negotiating purely in not wanting to be pessimistic.
