I'm not sure what the link is between him and Aish.

He hasn't had a lot of opportunities at Freo. There are plenty of footballers that don't get a lot of opportunities that end up being really good footballers at other clubs. He'd be a good get for us IMO, but Freo extended his contract for a reason.
Okay so then why would you throw a top draft pick (assuming we'd hand our first pick) at a bloke who has played a handful of games... and hasn't shown a lot yet...
Massive risk
Luckily Lachie is signed on to end of 2018... so i reckon rule him out the next for off-seasons.

We are currently spoiled with having Riewoldt on the wing, and I fear that this type of tall running target may cement itself as a key part of our gameplan which will be lost when the legend retires. As such, seeking out a Watts or a Lamb (or both) doesn't sound so absurd to be; a fresh start for the former, a return home for the latter, and a tutelage under one of the all time greats that plays with a similar style for the both of them. I can't imagine Watts would demand too much of a salary, nor would Lamb need too much on the trade table (Cripps 2.0, anyone?).

If one of them comes off, then we've secured ourselves the valuable linking/"get out of jail" marking player. If both come off, then we could have a more formidable wing play team, if it's possible to have them both in the 22.

Would rather take the risk with Tom Lamb myself , have known Jack since his East Sandringham days.

Great skill set kicking the ball has Jack , but he does not inspire in the defensive side for me.

Prefer to keep the course drafting , unless Hurley becomes available.

If he did , get him , can play back & forward would be dream pick up for me.

What about a GWS trade for Jack Steele?

Trade our 2017 1st rounder for Jack Steele & GWS 2016 2nd rounder

Hit the draft with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd round pick, add Jack Steele from this trade, maybe add Jack Watts through Free Agency

Equals 7 Jack's on our playing list

As for the 1st round conundrum that creates for next year, I would then trade off one of Hickey or Longer to buy back into the 1st round. I'd then take that 1st rounder & our 2018 1st rounder & get Dylan Shiel or Josh Kelly....

It depends where we end up, if we are talking a top 5 pick there are some really good kids already popping up. I'm not so sure how deep this draft runs yet. Love Steele but if Petrovski- Seaton or Powell -Pepper are in the frame it's a big call. I'm not sure if he's got improvement or he's hitting his ceiling yet with Steele. If he gets through this year with good stats and we finish higher than expected i would be keen though. We aren't going to get too many more years with access to high draft picks so you wouldn't want to be flippant about trading away access two years straight. If you miss the next Judd for an honest foot soldier you could really Richmond yourself.

I said to trade our 2017 1st, not this years ;)

And Steele is from the 2014 draft & was taken after DMac & Goddard (although he's GWS academy).... He's much further along in development than people give him credit for & his ceiling is very very high

I'll disagree, unless we are able to lure a big player like JOM, Whitfield, Kelly, whatever its probably worth keeping our picks and continually building in the draft.
And hopefully by around 2018 the AFLPA will have got their way which would activate free agency after 6 years then hopefully we can throw big bucks at one of their best players in the game.

He was actually bid on with a pick higher than Goddard and D-Mac were taken with, pick 17 from memory, so he was highly rated going into that year.

Think we're looking pretty good for inside midfield talent at this stage though (Armo, Steven, Gilbo, Ross, Dunstan, Acres, with bursts from the likes of Minchington, Gresham, Sinclair, Billings and Weller), so for me it's all about getting elite kicking and ideally combined with really good speed in.

Petrovski-Seton is probably the dream result. Someone with really high hurt-factor with their disposals.

I don't think anyone is suggesting we give up our first pick for him.

Your sick MG,HOWEVER...however I would be willing to watch him week in week out IF he was to play the role Tom Lee is playing right now just like you said. The bloke has a decent peg on him. Also I don't think it would take much for him to leave if the wheels fell off for the Dees. He was closer then people realise to leaving the demons last year
If jarred berry is available around our pick (say 8) do you think we would grab him or still go best mid?
There is actually not a single one on that list I would want aside from maybe jack ..

I would depending on what was coming back with him.

It's highly unlikely, but GWS still has some sort of play on McCarthy considering he will still be contracted at years end. His value would've diminished considerably, so it's unlikely the two first rounders that GWS wanted would be in play this year too but Rossy does some crazy shit when he gets desperate.

I'd agree with the earlier assessment that Weller is still worth similar to where he was taken, our problem would be if our pick was around 7 or so.

In an ideal and very unlikely world, I would see Tom play out the year and do pretty well (which we expect from him), include him and our first (perhaps sitting around 7/8) to Freo and then get Weller and one of their kids in return, say Darcy Tucker? Then go to FA and pay big dollars for Hurley.

I can't wait until this trade/FA scenario makes it back to Freo's board! :D

I'm a lover, not a fighter
The thing is FA's cost us nothing trade wise so even if they aren't the elite superstar we are looking for, as long as they improve our side they'd be worth it.

You're right though, there isn't much there.

Has anyone got an updated lust on this years FA's?
Well... Nup, too easy.
