What about a GWS trade for Jack Steele?

Trade our 2017 1st rounder for Jack Steele & GWS 2016 2nd rounder

Hit the draft with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd round pick, add Jack Steele from this trade, maybe add Jack Watts through Free Agency

Equals 7 Jack's on our playing list

As for the 1st round conundrum that creates for next year, I would then trade off one of Hickey or Longer to buy back into the 1st round. I'd then take that 1st rounder & our 2018 1st rounder & get Dylan Shiel or Josh Kelly....
gws could be top4 next year.. sp it could be a pick around 35-40 we get back

I don't really see Steele leaving GWS unfortunately. Came through the academy, they stuck with him after a serious injury as a 17-18 year old and most of his friends and family live in Canberra.

Playing for GWS is about as close as he can get to playing in his state.

I hate other teams!
I'll disagree, unless we are able to lure a big player like JOM, Whitfield, Kelly, whatever its probably worth keeping our picks and continually building in the draft.
And hopefully by around 2018 the AFLPA will have got their way which would activate free agency after 6 years then hopefully we can throw big bucks at one of their best players in the game.
I agree with this, but the premise of my post is focussed on Uncontracted players (Steele is OOC, only 20yrs old & has a very high ceiling - played 9 games, avg 14 touches, 5 tackles, 2.5 clearances), with previous discussion in the thread stating that there are rumours that Whitfield is going the re-sign, I didnt bother factoring him in.

As for Jaeger O'Meara, I'd offer Gold Coast a 3rd round pick for him. Thats how certain i am that he'll probably never play again, or if he does, he'd be lucky to play another 25 games

That's heartbreaking, one of the potential greats of the game destroyed by injury:cry::cry:

I thought he was selected as a 'mature aged' player having been eligible the year before. I may be wrong but pretty sure everyone (including GWS) skipped him in his draft year due to injury. If I'm right, that's not sticking by him at all.

I reckon he is a chance to walk, they just simply can't keep getting gun mids land in their lap and not expect to lose anyone.

Thats fine, then how do we get him???????
Good question. It would be hard obviously considering he's contracted but I'm sure we'd find a way around it if it came up.

our club wouldn't be giving up our first Farnham though unless they were getting something significant back with him.

I have no doubt that if GWS trade McCarthy last year then Weller is a Saint. Freo know Lachie was open to playing in Vic, so they re-sign him to (at worst) protect their draft investment.
If a Vic club come sniffing again then he is worth a lot more than if he was out of contract.
And when you've barely played a game and a club offers you a longer deal you take it.
I think it's unlikely but I wouldn't totally rule out Weller being traded, especially if Freo start to get even more desperate for a KPP.
I said last year when sellers name was mentioned he was staying because mavs girlfriend somehow knows my daughter. He then signed so to say you have no doubt he would have left is wrong unless either of those 2 are lying. At the moment he isn't going anywhere so maybe we chase guys who may want to leave their club

You have a go at me yesterday because "everybody is entitled to an opinion". Today you tell me my opinion is "wrong". If you don't like what I have to say it's no skin off my nose Plugger, but I don't think it adds much to the thread by exposing every lie I make.

You can have your opinion but like you when you know something you say it. I'm just saying Weller was never leaving and said it last season before the trading finished. That wasn't an opinion, it came from what I thought was a reliable source. I have also said to many people that have mentioned Whitfield that he isn't leaving either as far as my source is concerned. Again that isn't an opinion, its me trusting my source just as you say Longer is highly regarded by those that matter inside the club. That isn't your opinion, it fact as far as you are concerned.

Don't know anyone in this case apart from my Daughter. Is that ok. And I know Whitfield's Auntie in the next post. I don't know about people here but I go out and mix with people and some of those people either have played AFL, still playing it or work at clubs. Surely others go out and know people like this but if you don't come down to Ormond and meet a few. They will speak to you if they speak to me as long as you don't say they were shit footballers.

They kept him in their academy and I assume helped him rehab his knee. Understandable that they wouldn't have drafted him if he hadn't shown enough up to that point and had blown his knee.

I do hope he gets forced out and comes to us, would be a fantastic get. Was meant to be a big Collingwood supporter though if that means anything these days.

This is why I'm starting to get sick of BF...........a poster who posts ad nauseum and makes it all about him.....lets work as a team and do it his way!! Because it is all about him!!

You know, if you are right all the time then the other person or people are wrong all the time. No-one likes being told they are wrong all the time and this is what it is starting to feel like on this forum....

This is why I got so aggro a couple of days ago, (posts were deleted by the mod and rightfully so)!

Please Plugger give it a rest, eh? Surely you must recognise this kind of behaviour and the affect it has on the board, on other posters and on other posters behaviour and attitude to you?

I'll get off my soapbox now as I've said my piece. Let the chips fall where they may. Peace out!

Yet you post that your source told you about Dusty's chopsticks incident and you present that as fact.

When my source (who I hold to be an exceptionally reliable one) tells me otherwise, you respond with "that's BS".

You (& I) don't know 100% what happened unless you witnessed it yourself yet you're happy to be belligerent towards others and their opinions and information.

You can't have it both ways.

The respect that you show towards other people on this forum is starting to look very similar to your namesake on Saintsational who seemed to take pleasure from derailing every thread and causing arguments similar to this one.

Ok. Can I just explain the difference for one minute. Weller did stay and Dusty got a bugger all fine, well he didn't even get one. If Whitfield leaves then those saying he was always going to are right and I'm wrong.
