The goal average lowered when he went into the middle, and the possession average suffers when he goes forward.

Kid can play. He's coming from a mile back.
He didn't get a gig in the U18 Champs did he? Do you reckon that'll lower his value a bit? If he didn't get to compete on the highest stage in his underage year that has to leave a few questions over his ability to take the next step.

So why were all you draft watchers gushing over him before he was drafted? ( Boyd).
He had, and still has IMO, the size and tools to be absolutely dominant. He destroyed the TAC Cup.

Could well all be mental with Tom; a mate of mine was an utter gun as a kid but had zero work ethic, almost an 'I'm too good for this shit' thing.

Would have gone top 10 in a draft on talent, never even played TAC cos he couldn't even be arsed training.

No he didn't, and maybe it will dent his value, but there's a lot of similarities with Ben McKay's story from last year.

Ben didn't think he was up to it, didn't play TAC Cup most of the year and obviously missed the Champs, but got hold of a couple of games late. As we now know, he went at Pick 21.

Give Begs a slight discount for not being a KPP and he goes mid-2nd.

Smack bang in the middle of no-pick-land for us then.

I don't agree with that at all.

We have Roberton (194cm) for one, and in terms of kids, Payne (193cm) - who Richo is apparently big on - and White (188cm) for starters, plus Webster (188cm). McKenzie also plays much taller than his listed 184cm due to his massive leap.

Add to that, as much as I like him, Scrimshaw has a poor injury history at this point and I'd be wary of taking him when looking at our genuine needs.

Taranto (I'm converted Roadto2018) ticks a lot of boxes. He's bigger than most of our kids at 186cm-plus, has lovely skills and is a goal threat. He's versatile too; often plays out of the goal square at school when Pat Kerr is on the move or having a rest.
Yes we have Roberton and I'd love another.
Payne is improving, but he's still very erratic. He's far from being able to be locked in as a future AFL player, and has been playing mostly forward.
188cm is Gwilt/Shenton size. Two short for the poor match ups the player in our backline will be asked to make from time to time.
A leaping 184 is not a tall defender.
Similarly Goddard is not a done deal either.

How would we look with a backline of Carlisle, Roberton, Webster, Geary , McKenzie , White, lining up against Tom Lynch, Sam Day and Peter Wright?.

You can't just draft a player and assume he will be a star in two years time. ( McKenzie is currently not even getting a game ).

If we get Taranto i wouldn't complain though.

Not sure why everyone is so keen to use our first pick on Steele (even with a later pick coming back). I think next years second should be a starting point.

Still give us the option of taking a Taranto or even McGrath if he slides a little.
Getting a late pick is a reasonably good deal in this draft, the talent doesn't fall of a cliff.
Continually trading away next year's second rounder is short term thinking at its worst.

Possible that he lasts to the 3rd round due to 'not sure what he is'-itis, but yeah, I'd expect to see him go before we pick again as things stand.

A few clubs clearly are interested, otherwise he wouldn't be going to the National Combine, but someone will love him and take a punt.

I'm a lover, not a fighter

So Boyd is just a really, really expensive Spencer White?

Reckon he cops shit from his club. Over paid, not liked no coach and players because better players on their list make 25% of what he makes.

Buddy on the other hand delivers week in week out so his team mates can see the value.

Not really.

The problem with comparisons is that the easiest thing to do it pick prototype types, hence all tallish mids being the 'next Bontempelli' or 'next Fyfe', or all players from a basketball background being the 'next Pendlebury'...

If you're looking for a role it's a Martin/Stringer type thing, but if we're being a bit more reasonable I'd a say Membrey-type with a bigger scope for playing on the ball.

Members went at Pick 46 in 2012 as a KPF who wasn't tall enough for that at the next level, interestingly he started as a midfielder; Begley seems to be going the other way.

Range would be something like 25-40 I'd think, but I could be way off.

Lonie's a mid? Seriously?
He's kicked 19 goals in 25 games - if he's a specialist small forward then he's not going to make it. Milne had 43 in his first 25 games.

He's a mid the same way Gresham, Sinclair, Billings etc are. Same way Joey was. Same way Robbie Gray or Ablett were. They all played forward early in their careers but moved (or need to move) to the midfield.

Will be lucky to reach kosi's level, Boyd is unco slow and fat
You must so romantic on dates
To be fair, it's hard to be romantic when your date is 200 cms and has a head like a KGB reject.

Mind you, if said date has $7 million in her purse I could probably get her a rose or a box of Cadburys Favourites

Surely you jest comparing him to Milne? Milne was one of, if not the best pure small forward of all time.

Pretty sure Milney was older at the start of his career
