If GC loose prestia to Melbourne and JOM to Hawks, they would end up with an aweful lot of top picks. Given that I think that they wouldbe willing to lay overs for an established player.

If we did want to get more draft picks this year, that would be the way to do it IMO.
they would have ruined one of the best chances at building a team ever. That would be pretty much every highly talented mid from their initial group gone. They have guys like Matera and Martin who play more as small forwards and old guys from other clubs then. It would make them a very ordinary midfield and as such more will leave.

Preaching to the choir here, but when you look at our midfielders under 25, it's clear we need some extra class;

Inside: Curren, Ross, Dunstan, Saunders*.

Outside: Templeton, O'Kearney*.

Hybrid: Newnes, Acres, Sinclair, Freeman, Billings, McKenzie, Gresham.

Part Time
: Roberton, Weller, Webster, Murdoch, Lonie, White, Rice.

We definitely need some outside run. Absolute priority.
Adam saad? Ooc, speedy, can kick and find the ball. He wouldn't cost the world either.

Not a bad shout at all if he could be convinced to come. Would want to see how he does this year in case he's a one-season wonder.

Problem is his height (178cm). Do we need another small midfielder?

I've seen basketballers come back from patella tendon ruptures really well & continue to have good solid careers without much issue.

Problem with Aussie Rules footy is that youre forever being tackled & that area of the knee is always being smashed into the turf. There really isnt much science behind why I am so wary.

To be honest, if he was coming back from an ACL, I'd have absolutely no worries at all because it's an internal structure, whereas the patella tendon is very superficial & impact forces on the tendon, it's insertion to the tibial tuberosity & the knee cap could continuously cause havoc to the area......

Just on that, Paul Ahern anyone?
Contracted to the end of next season.

Any chance you can elaborate MG? To me, this is the guy you open the chequebook for.
Whitfield is a beauty, no doubt. Every club would love him. I just haven't heard one way or another what his future plans might be.
There have been a lot of noise about players like O'Meara, Prestia etc.

Over two goals a game last year which is excellent but doesn't get enough footy currently and his ruck work is average.
It's not the worst idea but I'd rather keep working on Hickey this year.
Peter Wright would have been perfect if Hickey doesn't work out.

hopefully we go in for bid 2.0 next year or maybe chuck up a massive offer and make them sweat this upcoming off season given he comes out of contract next year

Gws have 3 first round picks rhis draft, I wonder if they'd be interested in swapping our first rounder in 2017 for one of theres in 2016.

If this draft turns out to be the midfielders Draft as expected we could take 2 quality mids and spread our age demographic a bit.

They have 4 academy kids who are expected to be bid on in the top 30, with a couple suspected to be bid on inside the top 10...

They wont be trading those picks unless we can offer them a group of later picks which add up to more points than the one 1st round pick

GWS 1st round picks (3) are: 1) their own pick; 2) Collingwood's 1st round pick for Treloar; 3) Carlton's 1st round pick for Henderson (from Geelong)

They also have 2 2nd round picks: 1) their own pick; 2) Adelaide's 2nd round pick for Curtley Hampton

Michael Apeness is out of contract. Could come cheapish as Freo get desperate to find ways to get McCarthy. At 200cm 101kg he has the potential to be that forward/ruck, but not sure if his knee will hold together.
200cm kid with huge presence and is a goal threat, BUT is a big lad (101kg) - so he puts a lot of pressure on his joints - with a knee that just won't come right, and who's prone to concussions but has a leading technique makes Kosi look nimble and timid.

No thanks.

I actually don't mind the idea.

If talls are free or very low picks then go for it otherwise its time for mids. Even on the weekend our best players were mids but we still weren't good enough and that is because only Steven and Billings provide run and spread. Dunstan did ok and Ross did well but they don't provide any run at all. In todays footy you not only need to get rid of it quickly you need to give and get back or give and the other person run with it into space. Need outside mids and I'm unsure is a short or long term answer for that. Gilbo does it ok but apart from the 2 I mentioned I'm unsure there are many others.
