Doesn't matter what we gave up for Lee it was to much, List clogger

I agree. We can make ourselves feel better by saying the draft was no good or we also got other players but our first choice was to get Lee with a high pick. Unfortunately Hickey may end up the same but I do have more hope for him if they would bloody make him our first ruckman.

Hickey is already a higher standard AFL ruckman than Joel Tippett, Shaun Hampson, Daniel Curry etc. If that's as good as he's ever going to be its still worth keeping him.

If Lee + Wright as a draft pick is a fail you'd have to say.
Jon O'Rouke for pick 2 later traded for pick 19 is a fail.
Jimmy Toumpas seems to have been a fail at pick 4.
Plenty of other fails and question marks. I'm over it , if you want to use what happened to make yourself feel bad because you are a pessimistic spook go right ahead. Pretty sure Tony Lockett's taller clone was not in that draft for us to take.

Wow. As I said I don't care what other clubs did. I'm sure their fan forum says those guys were fails as well. I feel fine over what the Saints did. Its only a bloody footy club. My best friends daughter has leukaemia so I don't care. All I'm saying is justifying that no one else was available or other clubs failed is a weak way out. I Know you cant get every pick right and back the club most of the time but that doesn't mean we cant say when they get things wrong. Lee was a bust. Hickey may or may not be a bust. Fisher was great and so was Steven. No idea why you are even mentioning we shouldn't keep Hickey.

With you on this I don't expect the club to get every pick right, I think over last few years they have done a great job with players like Bruce- Goddard - Sinclaire and then likes. But as it Stands right now Lee has been a big bust ( yes we all know he has had injuries) couldn't give 2 hoots what other clubs have done only care about the Saints. If Lee is a bust no big deal, just dont think people should be shouted down for giving their opinion as long as they do it respectfully .

Fine.
I'd rather play Lee as a 3rd tall than Membrey. ( He's never had a chance at that ).
Declare it like its a fact if that's what your ego says.
I don't see it as a fact until it happens.
Lee wouldn't have played in the NAB Challenge if the club were not still interested.

I don't even get that post. Lee played as the third tall in his first year and part of the second. No idea what ego has to do with anything. And who said the club weren't interested in Lee?

"I've already spoken to him about it and I've said it's his decision and he needs to make the decision on what he feels is right for him and his family," Ablett told AFL.com.au.

"But there's been some changes made around our football club and we all sat down at the end of the year – the leadership group and playing group – and spoke about the areas we needed to improve.

"Jaeger voiced his concerns and we feel like we've made some changes in those areas. Hopefully that's enough for him to stay."

bloody hell, how bad are things up there if you have a 22 year old telling you what needs to change

Except that if we want to get a "bonafied A-grade gun" like Shiel we're going to need more than one first rounder and especially if it looks like we're likely to be a better team that following year. One first rounder in what may be the 12-18 range isn't going to come close to getting the deal done and it's the really high-end talent like Shiel that we really need to look to add.
Isn't Shiel a FA in 2017?

I hate other teams!
Well I don't think going to 2017 makes any difference to anyone. I also don't think it helps you get FA and I think you can get a FA still as well as a first round pick. Imagine if Freeman doesn't play this year. There will be outrage when we don't have a second round pick at the end of this year. The way we are going we will have bugger all players from the 2011 and 12 draft anyway.
2011 is going fine - Ross, Newnes & Webster are best 22. Minchington & Shenton picked up as rookies provide depth

2011 actually looks like the best draft we've had from the whole 2007-2012 period

I wouldn't be ruling Tommy out of playing next week either.
I know every club has whipping boys but I am certain Tommy has the talent, all he needs is his body to stay healthy and then be given opportunity.
I think our backline will be a lot stronger next week if Lee is there to help Fisher and Dempster.

The Ablett bro's were doing that sort of stuff at Geelong. Nath was very full on.
Takes all types to play AFL i suppose.
I couldnt give a stuff if half our team was Ned Flanders if we won a flag.

Going in against Port it seems pretty clear that we need another defender in... Lee got bog in the Sandy practice game. Seems like he needs to come in to me.
