Riewoldt is a freak. No way is Joey anywhere near career best form.

You've picked out three guys that are playing well, there'd be dozens of others the same age that have retired because the game had gone passed them.

If age wasn't an issue we wouldn't have bottomed out like we did. Most of our players were only just nearing 30 in 2012

Roo - 29
Kosi 29
Joey - 28
Dal - 28
Goddard - 27
Hayes - 31
Fisher - 30
Milne - 32

Are you telling me age had nothing to do with us dropping off like we did?
Polo and Gamble played a part.

We do seem to be publicly linked to a lot of players but have a lowish strike rate in landing them.

I wonder whether we are actually interested in them or whether it's just based off comments about big salary cap space and interest in free agency to improve the list

To be fair, 18 clubs. Everyone other than Hawthorn struggle to land many!

Armo at his best is a B+ mid. I think Rocky has enough runs on the board to be called an A+. Also 2 years or so younger I think
A+ mids are the likes of Fyfe, Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Ablett, etc, Rockliff is nowhere near those blokes. Going by that he's an A- for me.

Would take Rockliff over Laverde, Marchbank and Steele combined.

Rockliff could be the difference between a 10-12 win season and a 14+ win season

But has this only cropped up because we missed out on the other two? What's changed from Brisbane and Rockliffs perspective?
Pretty sure there's been word of us being into Rockliff for a while.

I don't think his output is anywhere near as impressive as his stats suggest, wouldn't call him an elite midfielder but that's just my opinion. The type that I would love to get as a free agent but wouldn't like to give up a first round pick for.

'Metres gained' like most stats doesn't tell the full story but this was damning - http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/dus...s/news-story/b23869c25a6aebd279f9faf2c5772337

I get what he's saying but that's King being a flog Dustin is a true inside outside mid who can run and carry, Rocky wins the ball so it not very accurate. The article goes on to say if you use super coach scores they are more accurate because they measure impact. He came 12 in the AFL with finals still going for the year for Rocky, our best was Steven in the late 30s. If he got 48 disposals that gained 25 meters per disposal he'd be the best player in the league.

Tweets saying they hear he's gone. It's been toxic for a while. He is apparently very blunt in his communication style and half the team whine about him. I think having high standards in a shit team shows character.

Yeah, people like to shit on them because of the "supercoach" tag I guess, but they're actually ranking points provided by champion data, who are ridiculously thorough in the way they measure game impact, and usually pretty accurate imo

I'm somewhat torn about Rockliff who will be 27 yo at the start of next season

On one side he is a ball magnet, can kick goals and is a tackle machine

however

He hasn't exactly inspired the Brions to great heights as Captain and there are questions marks regarding the quality of his disposals

He is also a toxic influence if you believe the reports coming out of Brisbane and can get team mates offside

Would be interested to know the reason why all clubs overlooked him during his draft year considering he ripped it up at TAC Cup level and won the Bushrangers B&F

Obviously there is something amiss here - don't know if am that keen

We have done extremely well to get the club's squad to where it is after bottoming out - just hope we dont fck it all up by trading for a goose

For me, I'm not that fussed by next year and winning a couple more games (I say that with some restriction). Of course, if we're a shot at a flag next year, then different story. But what we give in picks and salary, does it mean we are more likely to win a flag in a couple more years and perhaps even more importantly, does it mean we are more likely to win a flag or be up there with a shot for a number of years after that. It's the latter that means I'm very meh. I hope we stay the course. Just feels like this almighty rush to win a flag as soon as possible, whether that actually decreases our genuine long term chances or not.

We were getting destroyed in some games with Fisher, Dempster and Goddard when he was there. Carlisle adds plenty, but I'd still love one more big guy there (Goddard if he was good to go, but he's not) along with a Fisher/Dempster. Needs to be a quality one though; e.g. Not Delaney.
Tomlinson worth a look? Havent seen him much tbh but looked alright early on and is getting a game in backline for gws atm.

I know he has been linked to Carlton but how many more big blokes r dumb enough to sign there. They cant all get a game even if they are best mates with SOS. Will fall behind a few and not get a chance. Would get a chance for us.

Yeh cos my point was really that dramatic. :drunk:

All I'm saying is there was an enormous amount of hype entering this trade period, and so far I'm doubting we'll get anybody worth bragging about.
How would you have any idea though?

Maybe I'm wrong. You guys can keep sipping from your half full glasses and quote me when we get these big names we've been planning to get for 5 years.

I'll look like a mighty fool.

I'm not going to get too carried away about Rocky. Adelaide are into him massively too apparently.
I'll be really disappointed if we don't get Steele though. We've been leading the race for so long.
I think its one or the other... Im not a huge fan of Rocky, he is a it Meh as a player. I like Steele more, he had more scope and I want us to keep acquiring talent (that is succeeding) from the 2013 and 2014 drafts...

Rocky or Steele, not both! And then go looking for some outside run and carry...
