Rockliff will be 27 in Feb 2017 will fall.off a cliff in 2018 like Armitage this year. We are not a quick team we just moved the ball quicker this year, in fact (take Steven out) our midfield would probably be the slowest and worst on the spread in the comp. Armitage, Ross, Dunstan are slow. Gresham and Billings in a straight line are slow they make up for it with agility.

We need dynamic line breaking midfield speed eg Treloar, Martin not slugs like Rockcliff.
If we recruit him, will you burn your membership in protest?

Gotta laugh at the Nostradamus' on here writing off this year's trade period.

And our 5 year plan fail. Even though we've from basket case last to 9th in 3 years with a list that resembled a crime scene.

Do these campaigners lack grey matter or simply aren't happy unless they have something to whinge about.

Club is canvassing all players of interest. It's a numbers game. Even they know that.

I'm more concerned about dark matter. Wtf is that stuff?

Makes you wonder how the Pelican must feel watching Caleb Daniel tonight after grilling him in the 2014 interviews.

Not even close to being "rag-dolled" tonight or any time this year.

We took Jack Lonie 5 picks before him. Have to admit we blinked on Daniel.
17 other clubs blinked on Daniel

Every club blinked on Fyfe, Goodes, Black, Mitchell, Swan and plenty others

You win some you lose some - hindsight is a mofo

It's a Spiced Rum. The only one distilled in Scotland. Is spicy (heat) as well as spiced. Pretty good. Pretty expensive and difficult to get over here. Wicked Hangovers too.
I bought a bottle of kraken spiced rum the other day, first time trying it, not bad at all.

PS: Rockliff is not the answer

Your last sentence... that's the thing. You probably need a list of 10 potential players you can target and hopefully the planets align and you shake one free.

Like big Jake last year, you seize you opp when you can.

If you can get both, you do. If you get neither so be it.

Not going you, just raising a point / thought bubble from your post.
Its a good point Plumber... As you say we will have many targets, and you take what you can get.

The final result is most likely in the middle, our recruiters will follow your thinking of "get as many of their targets as they can get" and we will hopefully end up with at least one of the two. But if we get two, I will not be complaining.

Im interested in Steele because his addition will make for a bigger young group around the same age, and from two very good drafts. As well as him being a good player...

I'm not as concerned as others about the lack of speed, as I believe that (like in Soccer) the better you kick under pressure, and the more you play on, the quicker you move the ball. Speed of mind can be as effective as bursting from a pack...

How does it compare to Sailor Jerry?
Pain in the arse to get here, not worth considering.

If you're drinking Jerry's, then it's worth the ~$5 extra to go for the Dark stuff IMO, Kraken is better than Premium Cap, but either is good.

Mostly I drink to get ****** though. And good old Cap's Gold provides the best ratio of Taste to Cost per Standard drink for that as a cheapo student.

And I'm not a connoisseur, just someone who prefers Spirits when buying his own drinks.

Don't really rate us getting Rockcliff that highly. Would cost an arm and a leg to get him here and his wages were touted at 700k+ which would really dent our war chest.

I'd be rapt with Steele and taking #10 into the draft plus some trades to get a KPD.
Totally agree , Getting a 6'2 young (22 y.o.next year) gun midfielder who can jump, tackle hard/frequently, who is Taller than all our mids but 1 (equal to ross187.6cm, 3cm shorter than acres 190cm), IS a competitive beast AND keep #10 id be over the moon . Compliment our current list perfectly. But make no mistake , Tom Rockliff is an A grade player who , averaged 30 in a terrible side. As well as 7 tackles ,5.5 clearances per game, giving his all every week and still losing c with a board who have no idea.... not surprised his attitude wained. 27y.o next year, slightly older than what id like but 2 years at a good price , wed be unbelievably good. . .
Rockliff = Bonus Carlisle = proven tall defender
Steele = ideal
#10 keep

Marchbank announces he's off to the Blues, leaving Tomlinson with one less club fighting over his signing..

Laverde re-signs with the Bombers after shitting themselves when O'Meara selects the Hawks to pay his medical bills for the next 2-3 years..

They were obviously confident O'Meara would select them with their recent health & rehab program..;)
So the Saints have directly cost the Bombers app another $60k-$80k annually, with the Laverde re-signing..

Keep in mind Marchbank who's body is as healthy as Kristian Jaksch's ability, has also selected the Blues over the Saints..

No question we were interested, though it's clear we had an agenda & it's come to fruition..

What odds we pick up Tomlinson & Steele, as I sense we're in the box seat now..

Tomlinson & Steele for pick 10 rolls off the tongue this trade period..

# Unfortunately this scenario would cost Chips a spot on our list..

"Growing up idolising Nick Riewoldt, Tomlinson said he was still drawing on the St Kilda skipper for inspiration in his new role in the backline."

“I still look up to Nick Riewoldt and the way he goes about his game, especially what he did on the weekend kicking nine goals,” he said."

Why idolise Roo from a distance, when you can play alongside him..

Tomlinson worth a look? Havent seen him much tbh but looked alright early on and is getting a game in backline for gws atm.

I know he has been linked to Carlton but how many more big blokes r dumb enough to sign there. They cant all get a game even if they are best mates with SOS. Will fall behind a few and not get a chance. Would get a chance for us.
I haven't watched much GWS games lately, but from all reports he has finally found his calling as a defender. Because of his fitness and athletic ability, they tried him as a mid, wingman and Riewoldt type forward but it just didn't suit. He is only 193cm, but in assuming he plays key position, given his athletic prowess, rather than a 3rd tall/intercept player.
