Fast forward 12 months and the decisions to be made on delistings will be very tough.
I would say our bottom 6 now would be better than in '09 and '10.
Exciting times ahead!
Bottom 6 as of right now would be;

Murdoch
Lee
Templeton
Shenton
Sinclair
Freeman
TOTAL: 104 games

In 2009 it was:

A. Smith
Connors
Cahill
Heyne
Begley
L.Fisher
TOTOAL: 62 games (Fisher 55*)

And 2010;

Miles
Johnson
Winmar
A. Smith
J. Smith
Cahill
TOTAL: 8 games

And that doesn't include Adam Pattison, AND Rob Eddy played in a grand final side!

GOD that's horrible viewing.

Isaac Smith for their future first?
If we got some change along with him I almost certainly would.

28yo next year, but he didn't get drafted until he was in his 20's and didn't debut until he was 22yo, so he's only played 6 seasons and has played 24 or 25 games in each of the last 4 years, so he's very durable. He also wouldn't get bashed around much on the outside, so could easily have at least 6 good years in him and he would fit our needs very, very well.

Add him, Carlisle, Stevens, Steele, Brown and possibly Freeman into the mix next year (along with a hopefully much more ready and available Paddy) and we could seriously go places while we still have Roo and his Joey!

Bottom 6 usually just refers to the bottom 6 players in the best 22 though doesn't it?

Back then it would have been Eddy, McQualter, Blake, Dawson, Peake, Gwilt

Now it would be:

Brown, Dempster, Dunstan, Geary... hell I don't kno wwho else.

This part of our team has significantly improved.

Nup.

The way the Hawks are trading we could get him for a late 2nd rounder and a swap of 3rd rounders.

I reckon bottom 6 is more about the last 6 picked in your 22, not the last 6 on your list?

List depth is great, but it's the first 20 - 25 that really count obviously.

* edit - too slow sorry.
It does, but it's an example of our current depth. And it's just peachy. :D

And we won nothing.

I'll take a strong 22 anyday over 6 guns, 12 GOPs or GOP-plus' and 4 complete spuds.

Interesting point raised on Trade Radio. Melbourne or St. Kilda who's closer to a premiership?

I actually see Melbourne in a similar position to that which we were in in 2002-03, littered with young guns, and numerous top 5 picks.
I actually see us in a similar position to that which Geelong was at the same time, externally our list wasn't that highly rated, but I also so it with greater growth and potential.

Just my opinion..

Not fussed.... Top 6 players dont win flags, bottom 6 players win flags

If you want an example, look at the Swans... Franklin, JPK, Parker, Hannebery, Mitchell, McVeigh, Rampe, Tippett*

When referring to "bottom 6", isn't the general school of thought the bottom 6 of your best 22? - I should really continue reading the page before answering!

lolmond for a reason
He and his intelligent mafia cohorts said the same about us last year with Carlisle.

Like slavering dogs looking forward to morsels of steak.

Maybe their list manager is patient and professional enough to get the best deal.

...Ah, yeah; it's Richmond isn't it?

Probably just lost their mobile or something.

When referring to the bottom 6 isn't it from your best 22 not the full squad??
