Ridiculous picking that late.
It will most likely leave a hole in a list, unless they someone pluck some players that late.
They drafted well last year at least hardwick, Burton and Lovell all look the goods. They will drop away hard though because they have compromised next year too. I love JOM but the risk was too huge. I would have been worried giving up pick 10 for him.

The laughable thing is the bloke on AFL.com.au giving Hawks a trade rating of B..
Is he ruddy Serious?! B

They'd have to be a C- at best.

Gave up all their draft picks and their top 2 BnF place getters for T. Mitch and a cooked Jaeger

Edit: just for comparison, we got rated a B+

It doesn't look as flash when you put it on paper but if Hawks nose dive we are doing extremely well from it. Steele was expensive when you look at what other teams paid for their GWS rejects so to be huge winners we need the Hawks to have a catastrophic crumble.
Probably because Steele isnt a GWS reject he's a GWS depth player way ahead of what Carlton have been taking

Lmfao Cats have had a shocker, nearly as bad as the Hawks. They won't be top 4 next year.

Out: Caddy, Kersten, Vardy, Smedts, Enright (ret), Bartel (ret), maybe Lonergan, maybe Clark

In: Tuohy, Black

Missed Deledio because they've got no money, why did they try and get him in the first place then?

Shopped Motlop - no interest.

For some strange reason gave up their 2017 1st rounder in the Tuohy deal, that will be their third straight year without a 1st rounder. Paid overs.

Gave up Caddy for unders when he wasn't desperate to move. Gave up Kersten for nothing.

With Kersten and Vardy gone, if Clark goes they're only a dodgy Hawkins back and a injury-prone Stanley away from having to throw Henderson forward alongside Buzza!

Similarly if Lonergan calls it quits they're down to a geriatric Taylor, undersized Ruggles, so-so Kolojdashnij or very very raw Gardner.

Their good is still good, but the cliff is coming fast.

Talking with my mate about Carlton's list management strategy.

Safe to say we came to the conclusion that it is horrendous.

How can you expect to compete with GWS if you pick up their off cuts? They have 9 ex-GWS listed players, and the only one who would get a game for GWS next year would be Marchbank.

Stinks of laziness (as Finey said) and arrogance from SOS. Why go back to the well that has given you close to nothing? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result. He is setting up Carlton for years of pain if he continually picks up 3+ NEAFL players from GWS every year.

There is value in places other than the GWS reserves team.

Just another case of a favourite son ruining his team. He is not quite on Hird's level nor Buckley or Voss, but if he continues this current list management plan, it's only a matter of time.

So, judging by the club's comments on Stevens' ability to go forward, will we see:

FB: Geary - Brown - Dempster
HB: Roberton - Carlisle - Savage
RK: Hickey - Steven - Armitage
CR: Newnes - Ross - Riewoldt
HF: Stevens - Bruce - Billings
FF: Weller - McCartin - Membrey
IC: Steele Gresham Montagna Acres

In Round 1 next season?

What does this mean for Dunstan, Gilbert, Webster, Longer and McKenzie?

Where do Sinclair, Templeton, Lee, Holmes, Pierce and Shenton fit?

Is Fisher done?

Is the team as listed quick enough?

Interesting times...
I just adjusted my Round 1 22 since the Stevens news. Same/same, but different! (in this team i was assuming Dunstan wasn't fit)

Hawks have literally replaced a Mitch for a younger Mitch.

Lewis is a big loss, but Vickery straightens them up.

Key for them will be the old brigade and if they have it in them for one last crack.

Don't know much about their kids but they're rate them to go this route.

Was glad they held out for 2nd rounder for WHE, they were talking about 68 or something
I think it says a bit about the others to be honest. I don't rate WHE either. Marchbank a great get for the price. I think we might have the best of all of those traded by GWS, this year at least.
