Sorry for being so slow, but I've just noticed this and now I'm cheesed off.

Brisbane traded their priority pick! The pick that they were given as a leg up for being such a useless organisation right at the end of Rd 1. They flogged it to Port Power as part of the Pearce Hanley deal. In exchange they get a pick 4 places lower and Port's first round pick in 2017.

So instead of having a good senior player and pick 19, they've got pick 22 and an early pick 12 months from now. Plus they've handed said senior player to their local rival. In the short term a step back and who knows what in the long term. When what they need is to get cracking now.

This is a bit like giving some street dweller money for a really nice meal and seeing him buy smack with it, and the promise of a banquet if he survives the winter.

That particular priority pick now belongs to Sydney Swans, thanks to the Power's incompetence, who are the last club that need a priority pick. They are the smack dealer!

Priority picks should be untradeable. Or find some other way of helping them out. Useless campaigners shouldn't be trusted with valuables.

has anyone said thanks to Moorabbin Ghost stavro#4 BrianSpeaking waldy @insertcampaognerITK'er for everything they gave us.

went above and beyond what they had to do once again, ripper effort and good luck backing up all that information next year :p:p
Ditto Truefacts and Sunny3193, two very articulate and valuable new arrivals. Long may you all remain, thanks for all your great contributions.

Agree with all the positive comments on here about how well we've handled trade period and just about every move we made was gold. Only thing I don't agree with is those expecting a big slide from the Hawks. One straight kick and they were in a Prelim this year and who knows from there. I expect them to be strong again next year and make the eight comfortably. Anything else is wishful thinking. Talk of a bottom 4 finish is ridiculous. There 2017 first rounder will be worth about pick 11 or 12 at best IMO.
They just lost their two most experienced midfielders who were also ranked 1st and 2nd in their B&F and 3rd in their B&F was Burgoyne who will be 34 next year

They also won 6 games by under 10pts - take out Mitchell, Lewis and they probably lose every one of those

Sure Tom Mitchell is handy pick up but he is no Sam and O'Meara maybe lucky to get on the park next year and even if he does he practically hasn't played a game in two years so I cant see him smashing it unless of course "it" is his knee again

They finished 15 & 7 this year - so take out those 6 games and it leaves them 9 & 13 which would put them 12th this year (around Collingwood) which is pick 7

So I am gunna go with that - pick 7 for us next year - Thanks Hawks :thumbsu: and hopefully pick 18 ;)

Its only been 9 hours but i'm already sick of every second Hawks fan saying "Jaeger will be fine, Burgoyne was supposedly stuffed and look how he turned out".
Yeah quite amazing that Burgoyne missed two full seasons after injuring his knee and yet played 40 games at the same time

Brissy don't have to travel interstate for the prelim in '04 and they probably win the flag. Doesn't stop the nose dive the following year.

Freo should have been in the GF in '15, and with what West Coast served up....

Hawks system is unique, but I think with a few missing vital cogs, then a fair few of those B to B+ players don't look like guns within that system anymore.

And their kids.. well.. floating above Richmond.

They'll still play some ripping Hawks footy, but they are due for a few beltings. On top of that, the been there and done that mindset and every team hunting them, think they might have a few flat patches. It was a very even comp this year.

If mother time hits Burgoyne & Hodge, and say a Rioli gets injured.... we're in for a top 5 pick.

It's not the same Hawks team.

Just a passing thought:

Wtf were the afl thinking letting Geelong trade out their third first rounder in a row? What if all other clubs refuse to trade them a first rounder next year? What's the penalty if they don't get one?

I know they are getting the blues second rounder back so it's not a huge difference, but they are playing a risky gane if they don't capitalise soon!

That would make sense but how would the afl make money if we can't have a drawn out beatup for 2 weeks ?
I love it, keeps the horse racing off the radio for a bit longer. Can't stand this period between the GF and the international cricket. Making animals run in circles so we can throw our money away is depressing, couldn't care less. Would prefer trade week was trade spring.

Thought's on these jumper numbers?

Steele - #35
Brown - #38
Stevens - #26
Imagine the positive melts we'd have had if Saunders was delisted last year and Gresh got the #35. Love the 22 on him though.

After years of the #44 on my jumpers, I'm gonna resist the Gresh and Acres and go with #6 for my new buy (as long as the jumper isn't anything like that micky mouse shite we saw Membrey wearing in the photo shoot).

What's the knock on Gallucci?
Powell-Pepper and Gallucci come from the Geary/Gilbert school of kicking. Cedric Cox gave up on Footy at 16 due to home sickness and has only decided to give it another go this year. If he is anything like his brother on The Recruit this year (in terms of temperament and attitude), I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.
Bolton would be a better fit for us if he slid that far.

They won 5 games by under a goal, including 1 to us.

Reverse those results and we finish in the 8 while the Hawks sit around 9-10th.

Take out Sam Mitchell, Lewis and TMitch are a wash, and add Vickery... Are they really that much better?

I hate other teams!

Burgoyne missed only 13 games during the middle of 2009 with his patella tendonitis. The 7 games he missed at the start of 2010 with Hawthorn were due to a broken jaw....

JOM & Burgoyne shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. They are galaxies apart in their likeness

I actually IQ Ch 10 & & 2 News & both never expressed any positive sentiment towards Hawthorn.
They covered the O'Meara trade in detail, & that was it..
If it wasn't for Ch 2 & Fairfax who actually employ Journo's with any integrity, we wouldn't learn anything of factual content..
Lazy Journalism belongs to NewsCorp that's universally accepted..
We all know who won the trade & all the quality journo's have recognized this!!

Was slightly disappointed that we're waiting till pick 23 for our first live pick..
The handling of the trade period by our list management team, once again looks likely to have more hits than misses!
Two first Rd picks next year have been banked for the sole purpose of attracting an elite mid & having the mechanism to pull it off..
Congratulations to a job well done by Bains & co..
