I hate other teams!
I actually IQ Ch 10 & & 2 News & both never expressed any positive sentiment towards Hawthorn.
They covered the O'Meara trade in detail, & that was it..
If it wasn't for Ch 2 & Fairfax who actually employ Journo's with any integrity, we wouldn't learn anything of factual content..
Lazy Journalism belongs to NewsCorp that's universally accepted..
We all know who won the trade & all the quality journo's have recognized this!!

Was slightly disappointed that we're waiting till pick 23 for our first live pick..
The handling of the trade period by our list management team, once again looks likely to have more hits than misses!
Two first Rd picks next year have been banked for the sole purpose of attracting an elite mid & having the mechanism to pull it off..
Congratulations to a job well done by Bains & co..
Could be worse.... Hawthorn have to wait til pick 88 for their first pick

Seattle mariners. Boston Red Sox.
Handy depth. Would sign as a DFA
That means Eli, shenton, lee, Murdoch and fisher all gone.... I can't think of anyone else that would go

Hey here's a thought. Since the afl can just bend rules. Maybe we go to then and ask that we keep Holmes on international rookie list. Because you know we don't want to cut him... but make sure we go in with either a Hawks or geelong polo on to confuse them. Surely it would be allowed...

It doesn't look as flash when you put it on paper but if Hawks nose dive we are doing extremely well from it. Steele was expensive when you look at what other teams paid for their GWS rejects so to be huge winners we need the Hawks to have a catastrophic crumble.
Disagree with Steele being expensive. GWS actually wanted to keep Steele. Haven't heard them say that about any other players

He's also one the club rates highly. We targeted him a while back, as opposed to others that we weren't interested in.
And if we had have held out for lower price and missed out?

Assuming we take Holmes plus three in the draft, we need to delist seven....

All gone:
Curren
Delaney
Fisher
Lee
Murdoch
Templeton
Shenton

Unless we re rookie Holmes or upgrade him & include him in the three we draft. Six definitely gone, potentially seven.

If one survived on the primary list, I would keep Shenton. Gut feel is they're all gonskie. As I mentioned a number of months ago, Eli was on the chopping block & his only saviour was finding a new home....hopefully that happens via the DFA period. Same with all the boys as unlikely as that is.

It will be interesting what we do. I think they will only use two draft picks plus upgrade Holmes but they could just make Holmes a rookie and use 2 or 3 picks. The other option is we may want a DFA so we may have to delist them all. I think we will keep one and use 2 draft picks and upgrade Holmes.

Would you rookie Eli?

Think we went too early on his upgrade.

Rohan Connolly disgraced himself over Essendope and Mark Robinson is a disgrace for the same reason.

Patrick Smith at Australian was first to call for heads rolling over Essendope and wilson stood firm...

Anyway...

Sorry for being so slow, but I've just noticed this and now I'm cheesed off.

Brisbane traded their priority pick! The pick that they were given as a leg up for being such a useless organisation right at the end of Rd 1. They flogged it to Port Power as part of the Pearce Hanley deal. In exchange they get a pick 4 places lower and Port's first round pick in 2017.

So instead of having a good senior player and pick 19, they've got pick 22 and an early pick 12 months from now. Plus they've handed said senior player to their local rival. In the short term a step back and who knows what in the long term. When what they need is to get cracking now.

This is a bit like giving some street dweller money for a really nice meal and seeing him buy smack with it, and the promise of a banquet if he survives the winter.

That particular priority pick now belongs to Sydney Swans, thanks to the Power's incompetence, who are the last club that need a priority pick. They are the smack dealer!

Priority picks should be untradeable. Or find some other way of helping them out. Useless campaigners shouldn't be trusted with valuables.
They better not get another priority pick next year. They've made their bed, they can lie in it.

Burgoyne missed only 13 games during the middle of 2009 with his patella tendonitis. The 7 games he missed at the start of 2010 with Hawthorn were due to a broken jaw....

JOM & Burgoyne shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. They are galaxies apart in their likeness
Couldn't agree more, it's a myth that Burgoyne's knee was 'stuffed'. Nothing but hawthorn supporters attempting to rationalise their moronic trade period.

So what was the value of players out of GWS.

Rhys Palmer - Carlton - Practically Free. 27YO who can do some of the grunt work. Good Value.
Marchbank - Carlton - Future first rounder, later round pick shuffle probably win/win Pickett = Steak Knives . Good Value 4 former early pick with 7 games.
Hoskin-Elliot - Magpies- Future Second rounder. 52 game 22 year old. Struggled with injury, and so far not lived up to his early promise. Worth the pick.
James Stewart - Essendon. Probably Dodo's biggest trade into the club ever. Paid nothing for him which is typical, GWS must have been ambivalent.
Paul Ahern - Kangaroo's .Practically free, could be good if he gets over his injury. Former early pick.
Steele - StKilda - Future 2nd rounder. 17 game 20 year old.

Hard to see any losers out of that lot.
Please tell me that there is something seriously wrong with James Stewart. Because it looks like Dodo has landed one for nix.
If Ahern comes good the Roo's have a bargain.
Will be interesting to follow the careers of Steele and Hoskin-Elliot. ( similar trade price ) .

I'm only expecting 2 in the draft .
Don't know why we didn't just trade 50.
