Burgoyne missed only 13 games during the middle of 2009 with his patella tendonitis. The 7 games he missed at the start of 2010 with Hawthorn were due to a broken jaw....

JOM & Burgoyne shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. They are galaxies apart in their likeness
Thought of you straight away when the Jaeger deal went through. Imagined you'd be doing cartwheels

Would you rookie Eli?

Think we went too early on his upgrade.
To be fair he looked really good with the 8 touches a game he was getting in his first year. Some of his stab passes to Rooey were pretty exciting stuff.

Once he had that car wreck of an injury though he just couldn't quite put it together.

Rohan Connolly disgraced himself over Essendope and Mark Robinson is a disgrace for the same reason.

Patrick Smith at Australian was first to call for heads rolling over Essendope and wilson stood firm...

Anyway...
Say what you like about Caroline Wilson, (and she did us no favours in the Ross Lyon years), she was bang on about the Bombers saga from day 1....

Disagree with Steele being expensive. GWS actually wanted to keep Steele. Haven't heard them say that about any other players
They definitely said it about Marchbank but losing Stewart, WHE, Ahern and Pickett who they paid a lot for was crazy. I reckon we possibly looked too keen and as such paid about what he's worth. GWS were like a drunk at christmas handing out cheap deals though and we got them sober.

There are a couple of guys I know who are right into the club with $$$ who told me at both the 2014 and 2015 bnfs that Richo wants him.

Def not a media thing, there has been talk of it for years.

Its probably nothing more than Richo throwing his name up as a kid that he got along with and who could be an asset.
I reckon if we picked him up they would have to find another list spot and could mean the end for someone like Dempster so just don't know how we'd fit him in any more.

I think it would be a shame to add Holmes to main list at this stage, a fourth ruck on the main list means 10% of the list is specialist rucks when you can really only play one each week.

Be great if we could re-rookie him, then upgrade if we lose multiple ruck options to injury.

Longer has to play at some stage, he'll no doubt want a 1st ruck gig somewhere down the track and his trade value will be much higher if he's been playing seniors.

We should bid on Jarmans kid. The lols with Hawthorn trying to match with # 88 would be hilarious
100% agree. Everyones laughing at hawks but they got there men in mitchell omeara and vickery. Them and cats are rorting the future trading system. If clubs be nice and let them have jarman (who could be a gun, certainly has the genes) for 88 then we are the fools.

If he turns out to be a very good player, what we paid for him becomes irrelevant.

Assuming we take Holmes plus three in the draft, we need to delist seven....

All gone:
Curren
Delaney
Fisher
Lee
Murdoch
Templeton
Shenton

Unless we re rookie Holmes or upgrade him & include him in the three we draft. Six definitely gone, potentially seven.

If one survived on the primary list, I would keep Shenton. Gut feel is they're all gonskie. As I mentioned a number of months ago, Eli was on the chopping block & his only saviour was finding a new home....hopefully that happens via the DFA period. Same with all the boys as unlikely as that is.
Id say wed keep Lee? Maybe not.
Templeton and Lee are the only two id even think about on main list.
Lee will never play as long as 2 of brown gilbert carlisle dempster is fit, so barring major injuries Id have him rookied.

Upgrade Holmes, rookie lee and templeton

Grab 3 youngsters in draft. Perfect.

Surely they wouldve known this im surprised lee and temps didnt want to traded. Did hey? And just couldnt find homes? Brissie or GC wouldve taken em cheaply. ???

Rubbish.

1) We got Steele for a bargain, irrespective of how you look at other deals. Steele played more games for GWS than all the other young players combined they let go this offseason.

2) All of the players they let go this offseason have bigger question marks over their head than Steele.

3) The reason we got Steele was because we put work into him early. We showed him love, showed him our vision and this is why he chose us. Us being too keen was the reason we got him in the first place, and then it was up to us to get him to our club, which we did.

I'd delist all of them. If they struggled to get a game before the trade period, they'd have even less chance now. Get a couple of youngsters with 50+ picks and see what happens.

Holmes has to be upgraded because you can't spend more than 3 years as a rookie

AFL rules can be changed on the fly...we saw that earlier this week.
They didn't change the rule they just gave permission for the clubs to dump themselves in the shit.

Q: Hey AFL is it OK if I trade away all my first round picks for last year , this year , and next year.
A: Yeah as long as you use 2 first rounders by the end of 2018.

Sorry for being so slow, but I've just noticed this and now I'm cheesed off.

Brisbane traded their priority pick! The pick that they were given as a leg up for being such a useless organisation right at the end of Rd 1. They flogged it to Port Power as part of the Pearce Hanley deal. In exchange they get a pick 4 places lower and Port's first round pick in 2017.

So instead of having a good senior player and pick 19, they've got pick 22 and an early pick 12 months from now. Plus they've handed said senior player to their local rival. In the short term a step back and who knows what in the long term. When what they need is to get cracking now.

This is a bit like giving some street dweller money for a really nice meal and seeing him buy smack with it, and the promise of a banquet if he survives the winter.

That particular priority pick now belongs to Sydney Swans, thanks to the Power's incompetence, who are the last club that need a priority pick. They are the smack dealer!

Priority picks should be untradeable. Or find some other way of helping them out. Useless campaigners shouldn't be trusted with valuables.
Have a look at how effective Melbourne's last PP was.

Yep if JOM gets going at 100% they will look like the masters again. I dont wish ill on the lad but lets hope it some other clubs turn (Saints) to dominate for a decade.

So funny they practice goals celebrations. Losers. I think I have seen more impressive tricks under the primary school monkey bars. Hopefully next time they break out two skipping ropes, he jumps in the middle and they "do pepper".
