Wrong thread I know but.....

Caroline Wilson pretty certain that North Melbourne and Bulldogs are going to get the Good Friday game, despite the Bulldogs and Saints putting in a joint submission.
She did say it won't necessarily a lock for the same teams every year, but once they've got it I think it will be hard to take it away.

Saints overlooked for a blockbuster once again.

She also said AFL need to actually stand up and make the tough call n the Brownlow. It's gone on far too long. Duh!

Also very shocked with Hawthorns trading and getting rid of Sam Mitchell.
Good Friday game - surely has to be Saints v Demons.

On next years FA - let me say it loud and clear now - DO NOT WANT SOME WASHED UP FA HACK LIKE FYFE OR MARTIN.

Our target should be young guns with 10 year careers in front of them - not their best years already behind them.

Heeney, Kelly or Shiel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dees v Saints is a natural fit surely.

I would be happy if we got all 3 of those :D

Dunno if anyones mentioned it but in the Herald Sun today, they had a list of all the clubs and how well they went. We only got a thumbs up compared to the hawks who got a different hand symbol suggesting they killed it at this draft.
What a ******* joke lol, Hawks may have won this draft... But no one will know for a year or two. Gotta see if wasting an entire draft on one player is worth it before you call it a complete success.

Reasons

- Likely retirements in 2017 3-4 of Roo, Gilbert, Montagna, Dempster
- We didn't know we would have 2 2017 1sts to work with when we gave them deals
- We can trade always Pierce/Longer and maybe Holmes if we don't care what we get for them
- We can move Minchington or Wright or both to the rookie list next year if need be as we have to draft or let go Coughlan or NOK in 2017
- Rewarding their efforts and demonstrating faith in them.
- We will probably need them this season
- We didn't know we would get Stevens
- We really didn't know we would get Brown

Next year we likely draft 2 players and upgrade either NOK or Coughlan to meet draft requirements, recruit 1-2 players as f/a's or traded.

4-6 spots we need to free up assuming we go 3 years without a player requesting a trade.

3 retirements
2 players moved to the rookie list
1 player for unders/nothing/steak knives
Simples:D
Couldn't we just give them 1 year extensions with another year if they played 12+games

Anyone able to read this article?

Lopsided Hawks-Saints pick swap ticked off by AFL but leaves rival clubs 'bewildered', reports @SamLandsberger trib.al/P1fn585
I think by the time the AFL had asked Graham Wright some hard questions, the penny may have dropped that Ameet Bains had pulled down his pants and smacked his bum without him noticing.

I know....just exercising a little self pity with post-draft boredom ;)
I reckon they'll rotate it.
2017 North vs Bulldogs
2018 Bulldogs vs Saints
2019 Saints vs Demons
2020 Demons vs North

And then in 2011 they'll probably give it to Collingwood and Carlton because everyone will have forgotten about the small clubs again by then.

On face value we picked up 2 players who are depth from other clubs and lost a top 10 pick. Hawks have traded away picks this year and next and picked up two potential superstars. If it comes off they look genius if it fails they look crap. Next year we may play finals and still have 2 first rounders. I'm happy to have a bit of delayed gratification. The Hawks are on their way down.

Why would it need to be ticked off?

If Hawthorn was so incompetent to approve it, why would the AFL get involved?
