Richo contacted Nathan about joining us from India. What a man
The more I think about it the more I like this trade. We now have two actual key defenders, (Fish/Seany D are awesome defenders but shoul be the floating 3rd defender ideally). Agree with others, love the different dynamic that both he and Jake bring. Nathan the lock down defender on the Hawkins, Hogan, Patton type of forwards with Jake playing that floating role on Buddy and Jeremy Cameron. It allows Dempster, Roberton to play the genuine 3rd defender with Gilbert in support. It also allows Gilbo to play thru the midfield. Throw in White, Rice, McKenzie, Geary, Goddard and Coughlan (who I rate highly) and we're building something nicely in the defensive half.

Really like what we've done to arrest our deficiencies in both defence with 2 key backs and the midfield with two Steele and Stevens.

We are not that far away at all....

The 34-year-old is believed to be weighing up his future, with the Saints highly unlikely to keep him on the senior list for 2017.

St Kilda remains committed to redrafting him as a rookie should Fisher elect to play on — as the club did with Adam Schneider in late 2014 — but with Jake Carlisle, Sean Dempster, Hugh Goddard and Brown all senior contracted players for next season, the veteran looks almost certain to be delisted.

Based on Fisher’s intentions at the end of the home-and-away season, it will be up to him whether he accepts a rookie position or not.

Possible that they are thinking addition by subtraction - If those two are soaking up midfield minutes and aren't great contested ball winners then they want to get blokes in there that are.
Hartung, Breust & O'Rourke are their next in-line inside mids :D

The way the Pies are going, you know getting Dunn and everything :drunk: .... Aish would be better than anyone at 36 yeah?
Could they be that stupid?
Desperation leads to rash decisions.

They are coming off 5 years of decline e u see Buckley and are still in denial about their error in booting out Milkshake.

That Brown just stated he has more improvement in him and Richo is the right coach speaks volumes about what a disaster Buckley has been.

Hate to say it, because if I had my way they'd burn down Windy Hill, salt the earth there and paint the walls of Tullaramarine with the blood of their assembled members, but the Injectors won't be bad next year.

FB: Baguley - Hooker - Hurley
HB: Dea - Hartley - McD.-Tip.
RK: Luenberger - Watson - Heppell
CR: Z.Merrett - Goddard - Zaharakis
HF: Parish - Stewart* - Laverde
FF: Fantasia - Daniher - Bellchambers
IC: Kelly Bird Colyer Hocking

Even accounting for a few mistaken selections by me, that's not a bad side.

Imagine trading your top 2 B&F placers from this year for the equivalent of pick 61 and pick 88 :eek:
On top of trading picks 23, 36 and next year's first rounder for pick 10!

their so dam slow for 2017 footy
No McDonald-Tippa or Colyer in that side though, both of whom I imagine would be best 22 pretty easily and bring real speed.

On paper, they could easily make finals next year IMO.

Mitch Brown didn't even fit into that side and he finished the year off really well with a bunch of 10+ mark games.

The banned 12 missing this year will prolly help them in the long run, as it got games and exposure to the likes of Tippa, Parish, Brown and co. and they also get picks 1 and 20 out of it.

Going against the grain no doubt, but not sure I see the point.

Would be mighty deflating to see Chips play out his days in black, gold and blue...
i think it will be a good idea to keep him around and see how he goes in more of a coaching role, similar to schneider in his last year. gives him a farewell and shows the younger players we look after our own

FB: Baguley (poor man's Geary) - Hooker (yes please) - Hocking (nah)
HB: Dea (meh) - Hartley (meh) - Hurley (gun, but 1.5 years of great footy doesn't make a ledge)
RK: Luenberger (servicable back up ruck) - Watson (past it) - Heppell (seagull)
CR: Z.Merrett (gun) - Goddard (shit bloke) - Zaharakis (meh)
HF: Parish (good kid, Scott West potential) - Stewart* (meh) - Laverde (no ticker)
FF: Fantasia (good pick up) - Daniher (good lad, but holly yips Batman) - Bellchambers (meh)
IC: Kelly (one of their better players actually lol) Bird (watch out) Francis (their own Trent Dennis-Lane) Gleeson (busy with IRONMAN asia-pacific championship)

Even accounting for a few mistaken selections by me, that's not a bad side.
Langford (soft, no ticker)

Tippy (gun)

They will take a couple of good scalps, but so will Richmond, Collingwood and North.

And I'm a big fan of the Bombers, would hate to see what someone with a chip on their shoulder would say about that team.

I'd love to know what has changed in the negotiations since.

They only do that lopsided trade because they believe it paves an easier path to Jaegar. The AFL believe that too, which is why they ticked off on it. Everyone felt the JOM trade was about to drop.

Yet here we are 4 days later, and they're heading to mediation...

Good work from Freo and the Bulldogs on Hamling.

He was borderline best 22 and was lucky enough to pay in a flag. Neither party owes the other anything from that end.
