How? McCarthy and Lobb for pick 3 is about right I would have thought. Will make it even harder to get Hill there.
Lobb would make West Coast a bloody good side so I hope he lands at Freo.
We are never getting Pick 3.... GWS are highly unlikely on getting pick 3 either.

Happy to be absolutely pilloried for this, and we have discussed it before on other threads - however if he can come cheaply and on a one year deal (both unlikely) should we throw Cloke a lifeline? We need a tall forward in Rough's absence, and with the players linked to us in the offseason I dare say TOB and/or Schoey may not be on the list next year.

Odds would be against us as I could see teams offering multi-year deals. However, our coaching staff seems to bring out the absolute best in players (Spangher and Lake) so it would be interesting to see what they could do with Cloke, and what he could do in a forward line with other genuine forwards. I'm certainly not actively cheering this on - but under the right circumstances it could be interesting.
Rough is more than just a tall forward - he plays as a midfielder half the time bullocking and breaking the game open. That is something that Cloke could never ever not in a million years do. - Remember Leigh Brown at Collingwood? Rough is a superior version of him not Cloke

Don't need to tell me that Rough is more than just a forward. However, we aren't going to find a tall forward who can do what Rough can do in this post-season - so that's a moot point. What we need is a tall forward who is a marking threat. We need someone who can take the defensive focus off of TOB and Sicily. As it stands - we are bombing it in with the hope of a contested mark. This strategy has never served us well in the past, and it's our defence that is leading our charge this year. Now, Burton could change this - but that's a lot to ask of a kid. Add a genuine monster KPF and you let Sicily off the leash and Gunston and Breust can play more of their 2013-15 style. Again also, if we are to bring in some young mids via trade - we may lose Schoey and/or TOB - so our forward depth would get hammered.

I'm not saying we should throw big money or a long term deal his way. However, if Cloke was interested to make a sacrifice and come on board, which he likely won't, but if he was then you need to take the emotional blinkers off and imagine what he could deliver if he's willing to choke on his ego a bit and play for success as opposed to playing for money. People thought Lake was cooked when he came to us - but he embraced Hawthorn, got himself fit and played 3 fantastic seasons. If Cloke wanted to come here and was willing to do the hard yards - then I certainly wouldn't be disgusted by it like some here would.

We aren't the only club who could offer him success. Perhaps even more on offer from other clubs in 2017 and on (Dees, Saints, Dogs).
He's a business/brand minded chap. He will seek the place to further his brand and fatten his wallet.
Please remind me how many Premierships they've won in the last 20 years? Actually make that in the last 30 years? Feel free to add all of them together jyst so it's fair. :p

Success is a part of culture, a mindset that is contagious. Look at Geelong and Hawthorn as modern examples. Also ask yourself which is the club that everyone wants to copy, which has been the most successful of modern history and has helped make several other team successful by producing their coaches? There is only one; Hawthorn!

It all depends what is holding Cloke back. I think he needs to drop weight and get his running capacity back. What made him a good player is that he could run 12-15 km a game and the bench press defenders off him. I just don't think he can run anymore and a bloke that big isn't going to be hurt if he sheds a few kgs. He will always be strong relative to his opponent.
