Interesting analysis. No way Rioli would be on that little. The older blokes would be on less as they are all on one year deals and don't have the feeding frenzy market value of the other guys.

Roughead and Rioli would be around $600,000 I reckon.

I think the 2 foot hawk tattooed across his chest hurt his bargaining power :)

Edit: Just realised that I can upload the spreadsheet as an .xml file. I have attached it to the original post. Have a crack at balancing the books. Interested to know where other people's assessment differs from mine.

So not really sure where to put this but Sam Menegola seems to be travelling alright now for the cats.

He used to be on our list, what were the concerns about him when he was with us?
I really freo also tried giving him a go but he didn't impress much there as well.

He seems a big bodied midfielder who can win clearances and contested possessions, why didn't he work out for us?

He wanted to go home (having been offered a spot on Freo's rookie list) and had to sit out a year to get there

I was sitting right in front of you and my kids were sitting right behind him. Being an athletic spud the guy did have impeccable manners, as he wasn't going to sit in front of my kids before I said that I would shuffle around and that it was all sweet.
I remember his movement to the right from memory, to make sure he wasn't obscuring your view.

If O'Meara and Mitchell come in, who comes off the list to accommodate them? Bearing in mind we need to clear at 3 additional spots for the draft. So a minimum of 5 (more likely 6 or even 7) faces need to go.

Brad Hill <-- Probable trade.
Angus Litherland <-- Probable trade bait.
Jermaine Miller-Lewis <-- Probable delisting
Lachlan Langford <-- Probable delisting.
Matthew Spangher <-- Probable delisting.
Zac Webster <-- Possible delisting
Jack Fitzpatrick <-- Possible delisting
Luke Surman <-- Possible delisting
Tim O'Brien <-- Possible trade bait.
Ryan Schoenmakers <-- Possible trade bait.
Shaun Burgoyne <-- Possible retirement
Jarryd Roughead <-- Will go on the LTI list at the very least.
Will Langford <-- Likely safe
Alex Woodward <-- You would anticipate that he would be given another year.
Josh Gibson <-- Possible retirement (unlikely)
Luke Hodge <-- Possible retirement (unlikely)

I agree except I've edited the bits in bold

Box Hill Hawks.
How? McCarthy and Lobb for pick 3 is about right I would have thought. Will make it even harder to get Hill there.
Lobb would make West Coast a bloody good side so I hope he lands at Freo.
I would like him to do what Tipsey did and stop half way, preferably with us.

We will get the trades done for mitchell and Prestia only if hill goes. If he doesn't then we will only get one of them.
It will be interesting to see if O'Meara stays, i believe he will, but if he doesn't what would his trade value be and could we do a package deal for O'Meara and Prestia ?

I'm pretty sure players get paid $3200 per game and I think that might have to be included in the cap which would be 1.5 million for 22 players over 22 games.

None of the free agents are interesting... there's only three talls that don't play ruck & ain't too old... Tyrone Vickery... no... Mitch Brown...no ... Will Schofield... nah

While i can see the merit to some degree and i trust GW, a choice between vickery and cloke would be like choosing between a kick to the nuts or a poke in eye.
Or a nipple cripple the likes nobody has ever experienced before!

Then who are we going to boooo/bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu after a goal ? :(

I think Vickery would be an upgrade on our resting tall ruckmen when forward.....which is the only place I'd like to see him.
Wouldn't have to set the world on fire, but is a better lead up mark and natural footballer than either Cegs or BB.

Low cost, low risk, and could have a very nice upside if switched on by playing with a side renowned for success and always being there-abouts each season.

Sit down & teach him the definition of defence.

Vickery will have a few suitors, so he will be demanding a handy salary.

He won't come cheap.

NO thanks, move on.
Hard to know what's in a man's heart and what motivates him.
Think I've noticed his head drop some over the last couple seasons as the Tigers false dawn became apparent.
Perhaps he just wants to win, with teammates and coaches that know how to get it done..??

One year deal at decent number, say 350K, to see how each party likes the other.
Then commit to this great club you can really fall in love with just being around, or move along.

Watched Vickery on the weekend, he is not coming to the Hawks. He lacks any defensive side and often allowed his opponent to run off while he jogged along in the background.
I have a real problem with Vickery types. Name one one ruck size forward since Paul Salmon that has been a massive success? And he was back in the iso-forward days. Petrie has had a great career but has never torn the league apart. Tippett is just ok and is better now as a ruck. Tom Boyd wants to be a ruck. Joe Danniher looks promising but I still would not want him.

They are tall and thats it. They take the odd high mark and when they get a step on the lead it is hard for defenders to reach the ball. Other than that they are useless. They cannot impose any defensive pressure because they simply do not have the speed, agility or anything resembling lateral movement.

I really do not understand why all of them are so overpriced. Because every single one of them under delivers.
