They are only paying the 25% of next year and it is Rocky and his manager who seem to think that he should be paid at that same level for the following years. No wonder no one wants him. Until his manager lowers his price, he is stuck somewhere he isn't wanted at all.
Thats fine Nikki but we have to come out this trade period with 1 decent mid pick up and rather pay out a bit more than sell our sole , our best picks and best young talent to get Gibbs at 28 and no matter what your opinion of him is and that is varied on this site.
Looking from outside looks like not a lot gone well for Crows especially in trying to pick up some 2nd and 3rd round picks for Henderson , Lyons ,CEY etc and maybe now let Carlton drew in their own mess and move on.

+1
if we don't get Gibbs or a Rocky this trade period we are doomed to again miss another chance at a flag, no matter how optimistic a season we have. Winning finals in September is what we need to be better at and we won't achieve that with the mids we have currently.

Just needed to say about the frustration of this trade period has gone beyond that with the absolute dribble Rucci comes up with.
Yes of course Rucci we are going to trade pick 13 and then give them McGovern . Are you for real . Very very disappointed if we trade McGovern even as straight swap.
Lot of posters have got Rucci phobia on here but managed to keep balanced view of until this last week .
What a absolute flog of major proportions.

Apparently SOS rates no one on our list except 3 players (BCrouch/Gov/Cameron).
I think he's still suffering from the Milburn hit if that's the case. I thought he was supposed to be the "draft master"

Case in point. Wasted a pick 7 right there. But no, "he's a genius"

So what is silly SOSage going to go on about today?

Also love the doomsdayers in here.
If we dont get Gibbs or rocky we're doomed!

Ah not quite. We go to the draft, refresh with youngsters, have another crack the flag in 2017.
With those youngsters likely unable to help us in that tilt.

We are a couple of ready-made midfielders away from a flag - maybe just one if everything goes right for us.

When someone is selling a nice car for pennies you should ask more questions, not mutter bargain.
Well worth the risk for North though, at the very worst they lose pick 69 without gaining anything back. Hardly something to ask questions about

I love this. It is the age of SOS... it is the SOSage.

My concern with statements like this are that we end up like Port circa 2014. There is no 'missing piece'. We don't want to think we can play the same game, but with one extra player, and somehow win a GF. Our young players will develop, and we are definitely in a window. But thinking one extra player will make the difference is wrong imo. Doggies are proof that you don't need a magic 'fix'.

Not that a couple of quality mids wouldn't help though.

IMO you need to be lucky and good to win a premiership. dangerfield still in the side wed have won a couple more games, finished top 2 and very likely played in a gf. we were weak in the midfield all year unfortunately. sure there isnt a missing piece, but ffs do we need help in the middle

I think Port's problem was every time they picked up that missing piece, it wasn't actually the right piece.

Ryder is the missing piece! - no, you've already got a ruckman, wait you're playing this guy as a forward? WTF? oh and he took drugs, whoops bye.

Dixon is the missing piece! - right, you finally got a key forward, just you picked the worst one you could find, can't play more than 15 games a season, body dodgy, hasn't really done anything with his career, and you're paying him how much? Why??

Meanwhile, their mids have either stagnated or gone backwards - to the point now where suddenly their top 4 list, no one wants to touch at trade week, and I certainly haven't heard the words 'destination club' bandied around.

Whereas Adelaide know - just like nearly everyone on here has worked out - exactly what their missing piece is: outside class. We did a very cheap 'missing piece' job last year when we got Hampton and Seedsman, now everything else looks right we're trying to get that exact missing piece by directly targeting someone who's perfect for it.

I think we're doing exaqctly the same thing as Port, except properly.

You have to admit our strategy is to source ready made mids ATM and then fall back to the draft is nothing comes of the trade scenarios. We are going for an instant fix for our midfield.

We'll see.
I think there more issues there than just a lack of midfield depth.

Think port 2014.
