Same guy that tweeted Zorko will be traded to North and that we would hear more about it last Friday.

Pretty sure these guys are just bigfooty posters from other clubs who are having a laugh like we were doing yesterday with the fake twitter handles

Clubs are nominating Carlton, Pies, Dees, Tigers though, not sure ladder position is exactly a reason.
It's a combination of perception of the club, the money on offer, the opportunity of regular games. Our midfield still has Swallow, Cunners, Ziebell and Gibson, so players probably don't see a spot every week. Dees and Pies have the perception of being on rise. Not many spots in our forward or backline either. It's hard to sell opportunity in areas of our ground.

Our recruiters must be old school and refuse to offer anyone modern day money. How we've opened up this many key spots, an money and haven't been able to tempt anyone into joining us is embarrassing. I'm not one of these guys who gets upset thatt were not doing moronic trades just for the sake of it, but any time we interested in someone we are not chosen. For god sake Hrovat doesn't care if he goes to a rabble of a club in Carlton or us.

Tuohy, Prestia, Omeara (depe ds if you believe we ruled him out due to medical), Lyon, Mayne (God I hope we weren't actually going for him), Howe and Aish are names over the last two years.

Oh well, just keep drafting and well see how that goes for us.

Maybe not

But i do agree players do not want to come to north unless its for an absurd amount of money or there a kid who's played hardly any games. We are seen to be a basket case going backwards quickly. And from all reports the club is giving out mixed messages where it thinks we are at which is scaring other players away. They probably know brad will be sacked mid contract at some point next year as well.
Yes, nailed it.

Nothing to do with a deliberate strategy of going young, through draft, developing existing list, or grabbing discount talent if available and ok with medical team.

If we checked back on "trade week winners" and how reality turned out, we'd see huge gaps. Every year people get sucked in.

There will be at least 20 trades left, would think plenty of principle agreements in place.
I would hope there would be given the amount of players in limbo at the moment.

Im really surprised that a couple of trades like Gibbs and OMeara could hold things up this much. They are hardly Fyfe, Ablett, Buddy type players

Assuming pursuing O'Meara was rejected on medical grounds, Prestia is the only one in that list I'd have actively pursued. So no big loss at all.

They can affect picks, that is the issue. If those picks will be used on another deal, then another you start to get half the comp included on that one pick. Particularly with Academy points, bundling because a viable trade option.

With respect, how would you know what we are offering anyone?

It is highly likely that we have a number of players interested in North, but we can't get trades done since Black, Hansen, BMac and Fishy aren't exciting to other clubs and we don't (ever) have high draft picks.

Indeed, part of our strategy, which commenced before this year, has been to offer big money to players in development clubs, to cause a salary cap squeeze like we are now seeing. It has a flow on effect, too.

We were up to our eyeballs in Treloar last year, it was just the bells and whistles that Collingwood can add (e.g. girlfriend's media job) that pushed him that way, not the money.

Not Howe? Next year there'll be angst we missed out on Lynden Dunn.

I m sure theres players behind the scenes, that we also can't tempt into joining us. If you believe the posters on this board there's about 15 we are offering big coin to and can't convince them.

Thats off the back of respected posters on here after we miss out on a player saying "they were offering more than us" every time we miss on a player.

I think Brad needs to prove next year that he is willing to play the younger guys to refresh our team too. Brad has been extremely stubborn in who he chooses to play (especially in the midfield) so I would think most player managers would be looking to get younger players to teams where they are pretty much guaranteed game time.

Even thinking about Hrovat - he really should choose Carlton if he wants to play every week. Carlton are about to lose Gibbs and have a midfield of Murphy and Cripps followed by a bunch of C graders in Curnow, Graham, Buckley, Whiley, Boekhorst, Lamb, Armfield etc

We have lost Wells and Dal from our midfield but have Clarke ready to go, Jacobs coming back from injury and then even the potential for LMac or Atley to come in. There isnt a clear open spot for him at all.

Until our list managers put a clear strategy out to the AFL world of what we are going to do there arent going to be many younger players lining up at Arden St. If Brad doesnt change it up big time next year I think we will continue to struggle to attract young talent.

The above is ok if we just want to go to the draft and develop our own but it wont work if we want to trade

Forgot about Buckley, wouldn't mind throwing pick 456 at him.
