well done to Simpson, he obviously knew Mitchell wanted to coach after footy so approached him about it 12 months ago.... Thats the thing with North at the moment we don't seem to have any connections with other players as we continue to have the same people in the club year after year or no one with status.
Is the S Mitchell deal (play then coach) basically the same as they are considering for Petrie and if so, does that mean the Petrie offer is now dead?

It's either in the litterbox or on the scratching post.

Bloke. Is. A. Cat.
I'm with you. The only criticism of the club re the handling of McKenzie is the decision to draft him in the first round.

Pushing him up the ground will expose his lack of pace and ability overhead

So this guy (ahern) will sit in our medical room for at least a year and MCKenzie will go somewhere else, play up the ground in the right possie in the right environment and be a good player. Nice move if it happens!
McKenzie is a crab and probably has the same speed as a bloke on crutches.

We need to trade out more players. We need to fill at least 6 senior spots and only have 4 decent picks.

Hope we can strike deals for Hansen and Swallow. Would allow us to net a Ahern or WHE while picking up some decent players in the second round of the draft.
every player we trade out we need two decent picks or we still have to use picks in the hundreds.

I don't doubt we have something in the works, but from my whispers its more going to be about targeting a couple of young fringe types like Ahern ect while doing some sneaky trading with our future picks to get us higher in this draft. I don't think this will be the year when we land our big fish.

Other than mitchell I'm not sure those 3 really improve us that much. Mitchell and Rocky are both slower contested types more suited to inside roles. How will we balance the playing time of Ziebell, Cunnington, Dumont and Swallow if we add in another contested type.

Motlop is as soft as the come and mentally inept on the big stage. Not really going to make us any better. We've been burnt by too many Motlop's before who have failed to live up their potential.
trading future picks scary as, we could end up anywhere next year.

Doubt moving on Mitchell has much to do with them caring about his future etc.

It is all about clearing cap space, and is the answer to why people keep asking "how can the Hawks fit Mitchell and O'Meara in?"
So basically they can afford to fit a Mitchell and O'Meara.

If Kelly was on the table for our First this year and next we should seriously consider it.

If we got him our first presser should be him coming out and saying it is where I belong.

Then we word up Spargo and say that is the exact phrase you say in all you interviews. North Melbourne is where I belong.

So we've sacked Boomer so we can has a spot on the list for a guy with 1 leg. Brilliant!
Here's a thought.. Boomer has retired give it up (as sad as it was).. They are not linked at all.. Ahern would be a great get at the right price think we need an extra player or pick if we are giving up next years second rounder.. if he comes right exactly what we need.. Kelly would be great and I would be fine giving up this years first rounder and next years.. He is going to be an elite player for years to come.

they want Petrie due to Nic Nat not playing in 2017, if eagles cant find a replacement during trade period Drew is on the list.

Because clearly the two are intrinsically tied together.
Boomer has had to make way for someone, and as good as Boomer was playing I'm going to say it's the worst player on our list come the start of 2017. And its just a guess here, call it a hunch if you will, but a guy with one good leg wont be playing much footy next year. I'm also going to guess that more players fail rather than succeed when trying to come back from a 2nd recon. (but again that's just a hunch)

So it is Ahern he's made room for, or pick 11, or 32, or all of them depending upon what point of the argument we are at.

Your posts can be summed up like this:

I disagree that Boomer was not given another year and therefore anyone who doesn't make it from this upcoming trade period or draft will forever wear the tag of costing us Boomer.

Tell me does it tear you up that a player you love (Boomer) loves a player you hate (Lindsay) like a brother?

As I said, Boomer has made way for the worst player on our list come start of 2017. It could be pick 32, it could be pick 76, it could be whoever we trade for a box of dead fish, or it could be LT. But as I said, I'm just guessing that a guy who has one good leg is going to play the least amount of footy and have the most risk, therefor he would have the front running as being the worst on our list. We sacked Boomer because "we are building for the future" Taking a punt on on a kid coming back from a second recon is not building for the future, it's rolling the dice. (yeah I understand every kid is a bit of a gamble but shit, you can at least try and stack the odds in your favor)

And I don't hate LT, he's seems like a really nice guy. He's just a shit footballer.
