As I said, Boomer has made way for the worst player on our list come start of 2017. It could be pick 32, it could be pick 76, it could be whoever we trade for a box of dead fish, or it could be LT. But as I said, I'm just guessing that a guy who has one good leg is going to play the least amount of footy and have the most risk, therefor he would have the front running as being the worst on our list. We sacked Boomer because "we are building for the future" Taking a punt on on a kid coming back from a second recon is not building for the future, it's rolling the dice. (yeah I understand every kid is a bit of a gamble but shit, you can at least try and stack the odds in your favor)

And I don't hate LT, he's seems like a really nice guy. He's just a shit footballer.
you need a dice?

So we've sacked Boomer so we can has a spot on the list for a guy with 1 leg. Brilliant!
We shouldn't do it. I cannot think of a brave trade decision that has paid off in the past couple of years

Reality is, there is no difference doing this to what the Hawks are doing with O'Meara except Ahern has had issues arise only in the past 7 months, O'Meara has been a saga. As long as the knee is structurally sound, we could have a potential star on our hands.

And the club would of or will do due diligence in terms of scans/medical. If we get him in, it would mean the club are confident they will get it right. Low risk, high reward scenario. I'm all for it after a bit of thought, for the right price though.

out of interest if we trade away the Wells compensation pick today(not saying we are or will) what stops us from picking up a free agent tomorrow.
The AFL can't water down a pick that's gone, would the AFL stop the deal?
Yes they would revoke the pick if we intended to take a free agent..

He only had the recon a few weeks ago, is he even out of his brace yet? As someone that has a re-ruptured an ACL recon I have a fair idea how difficult it is to a have a structurally sound knee. Some guys fight back from a second recon, a lot don't. It's even possible to keep playing with out an ACL. I managed to keep playing social sport without mine, as I never realized I had actually re-ruptured it, but it was never the same. I look back now and understand the pain. Problem is I'm paying for it now!

Shame you didn't rupture the tendons in your fingers.

Bit harsh, whilst I don't go with the ahern is taking boomers spot idea I can see where KT is coming from.
Unless there is something else to this supposed deal then really paying a 2nd that could be in the low to mid 20's for a guy who isn't going to be playing next year due to a second knee reconstruction is fraught with danger.
Yes the dawks are taking a bigger gamble with JoM but in all reality they have a better team than us and if they add in Mitchell and JoM just sits there it's no really biggie.
We don't have the luxury of having another draftee or traded player sitting on the sidelines for a year.
Look what happened to our class of '14, we are yet to see any of them get a crack because they spent large chunks of their 1st year sidelined.

Maybe if we drop off pick 36 in return? So we only get Kelly and 54?
The only problem is we would need to make up additional list numbers numbers through Rookie Draft's and DFA drafting. Or figure a way to trade off Black to Freo for e.g. picks 60 + 72.
