Re Ahern, according to NEAFL reviews he was inconsistent in his first season. He played 15 games in the NEAFL, was rested once and senior emergency once so didn't play.
However, within that inconsistency he was in the best on 7 occasions. Given he was a first year player that aint too bad at all.
There are two issues with going after a bloke like Ahern. Firstly is cost. If it doesn't cost us a great deal then fine, not a bad get. But hte big issue is the injury to the knee. Watch his highlights and you will see a big weapon for him is his ability to change direction on a match head without missing a beat, especially in close. given a double reco, just how much will this ability be affected?
If our medico's recon that come 2018 he will be good to go and that his knee isn't any more ****** than anoyone with a double reco, then go for it. But if there is doubt the price we pay must be adjusted accordingly.
Kids got a ****load of ability and a family tie to the club. Defo worth the enquiry at the very least.
