An end of first round pick would be sensational for Wells, especially in this draft. Thinking it may be a second rounder, but even then, it's not bad when your expecting nothing.
Surely 3/600k gets you end of first round.

He's be in their top 5 paid players.

What was Frawley's deal?

Irrelevant. That was clearly a you're not getting a priority pick but here's a priority pick...pick.

AFL at its finest. Before they put a bullshit committee in to stop things like that from happening.

They got a pick after their first round pick pick. Band 1.

Band 2 is end of first round.

That's fair and reasonable for 3/600k.

Tom Mitchell is not what we need. He is a jet and will improve the Hawks no doubt, but he isn't what we need because he isn't an outside player with speed. We have enough extractors and clearance specialists.
Agree with all of this.

But the main reason I don't want him is because I wouldn't want anyone that will get games ahead of the Frog. He is different class in my opinion and with consistent games could go close to being our best player.

That might be slightly overrating him, but I genuinely think he could be anything.

800k & 5 years from memory.
Nope. 2.2 million 4 years. 550k a year. Less than wells.

End of first is very reasonable for wells. It's exactly what melbourne should have received. Pick 3 was a joke especially when you factor in what hawks got for buddy.

Again, the compensation is tied to the club's finishing position.

The Hawks and the Dees received the exact same compensation for Franklin & Frawley. It just so happened that when the Dees lost Frawley, they finished near the bottom & were rewarded with a pick after their first one (#3). The Hawks finished near the top (flag winners?) and therefore received a pick after their first one. So, #19.

Don't recall saying compensation wasn't linked to ladder position. Nope, just checked, i didn't. So shove your "again"

I think it is bullshit that it is. Draft picks should be ladder position. Free agency compensation should be even across the league. Especially when the buddy got double (money and length) what frawley did.

The again is more for people other than yourself who continue to ask why apparently Frawley commanded more compensation than Franklin. But yeah, be a dick about it.

We need A graders, so if they don't have that ceiling, just pass and develop what is on our list.

I would go after:
Hartlett
Mitchell
Jaeger (don't give up yet)
Swallow
One of the Giants
Jaeger failed a medical.
Legit Saunders couldn't guarantee his longevity and the amount of money invested in him would have killed us. High Risk high return but risk was too much.

You often quote a person but want to talk to others?! Either way you were either being patronising to me or others.

Could have been worded more appropriately is all I'm saying.

Have read and seen this mentioned a few times on here, who is the source for this information?

I find it odd that Motlop was so good in 2015 and so bad this year. I would happily have given up our first pick for him last year.

I'd still like the club to have a chat to him. He will not cost the earth and Geelong will pay a little of his salary.
Could be the Lewis Jetta trade repeat. Down on form because he wants out or just turned to pus? Hard to believe it's the same guy that dominated last year.
Hutchy thinks he's on 600k plus.
Would only take him on a largely performance based contact.

Too many reservations is the overwhelming message I get from his language.
The 12 wins goals reassessment, which backfired on our year, just demonstrates the power of goals setting and the belief surrounding that.
IMO I think our clean out will only benefit BS in pursuit of instilling a belief that we can achieve beyond common expectations. He needs to believe it too

What about just throwing out there something like;

We've been developing our younger players nicely over the last couple of years and being unable to break into the top side had them hungry, ready and excited. We'll be tossing around some ideas and working on an exciting game plan that will maker there most of the talent we have on our list. With hard work, commitment and a shared vision of where we want to go as a club anything's possible...

Unless we can get a proper A grader then the clubs focus this draft period should be getting as many picks inside the top 30 and building up a war chest for the following years to maybe go after a big gun. Next year will be somewhat of a mini rebuild year where guys like Dumont, Wood, Garner, Turner, Wagner, Clarke should be playing week in week out as well as introducing youngsters that have been recruited in the past couple of drafts. Forget about cast offs from other clubs. We have a decent enough list to at least be competitive next year. Hopefully the guys that have been around 2-3 years can flourish.

He started this season off really well too IIRC, was pretty dominant.

Fell off a cliff really rapidly. Got to be something going on with him because he just seemed to have lost his enjoyment of playing.

If we ended up with #12 for Wells we'd be making out like bandits. Do whatever we can to increase his valuation.

If this year is a deep draft and unimpacted by GC/GWS concessions then it's like a top ten pick in other years.

What does the comment about De Goey mean? I think he would be available if you talked to his manager, was dropped twice this year and the pies are rumoured to be getting Wells and Dal Santo and perhaps others, if that happens he's going further down the pecking order and more likely to want to leave.

How good would it be if Wells compo turned into De Goey.
Yeah not happening

We can grab a sure thing and someone a little riskier.

Taranto/Cox combination would be excellent.
