Warning - do not check what we did with pick 37..
I checked, I could not help myself, but no pick 37.

Did we trade it? Please don't say Calthorpe, I had to check again.

Ah, Olarenshaw, but our Club website fails to register pick 37 as part of the trade.

But then besides Olarenshaw and our first two picks I'd say we kicked arse trade week and at the draft. 6 x 100 plus game players.

Jebbusssss stop with the Tom Mitchell shit, if the guy wants to go to hawthorn no amount of money will change people's minds... We threw money at traelor and so did the Tigers and still couldn't land him.
Players go to clubs that can offer more off field or perceived success, we aren't either of those...
In saying that, it is thought that the Hawks will struggle to get him 400k a year. An extra 150k a year over 4 is a fair old carrot.

That's 10 times better than I expected. I thought we'd get nothing for him since he is a unrestricted free agent. If this is the case, while it would hurt in the short term, Wells won't be apart of our next tilt, so this is almost a outcome I'd prefer.
You expected him to leave for $60k a year?

Agree with all of this.

But the main reason I don't want him is because I wouldn't want anyone that will get games ahead of the Frog. He is different class in my opinion and with consistent games could go close to being our best player.

That might be slightly overrating him, but I genuinely think he could be anything.
I would be playig him ahead of Spitta next year.

Both sides in the GF have a 1+ Million dollar player on their list.

They seem to be going ok?

FFS offer Shiel $1.2 Million a year over 6. Work back from there. There will be a 20-23yo that will want a 100% pay rise over the next 6 years.
It will be interesting when McCrae, Hunter and co are looking at their next contracts. The wolves will be at the door.

Agree we made up some lost ground on Smith, McLaren and that ex * mug with some astute picks.

Had we nailed pick 6 and 37 and Motlop had a bit of charcter this was almost a complete one draft rebuild.

Dogs are going to have huge cap pressure in the future, especially if Boyd sticks to his deal. There is a lot of players particularly going through their midfield who will deserve a decent jump up in their next contract. Unless they're willing to take pay cuts they're going to lose a couple.
It's a credit to them though, they have nailed all their 1st picks and also a large portion of their 2nd and 3rd picks.
