Interesting. I've never heard this before.
I'm a few years older than him myself but I know a number of people around his age that have played a lot of sport with or against him and known him socially and it's fair to say he was never the most popular team mate or person with a lot of people, even before he was looking like being an AFL footballer. I know a lot of AFL players would have people that don't like them in their respective social circles because they would be considered 'arrogant' so perhaps he's not unique in that respect, but I've very rarely heard a good word about his character.

Josh Jenkins staying in Adelaide, I think the Brisbane money will now be directed at Wood.

Not the whole 800k, but a fair portion of it.

From the players out of contract thread https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/players-out-of-contract-2016.1118711/

The best ones available would be Brad Crouch, Josh Jenkins, Lewis Taylor, Darcy Gardiner, Nathan Brown (free agent), Jayden Laverde, Michael Barlow, Ed Langdon, Chris Mayne (free agent), Shane Kersten, Jaeger O'Meara, Dion Prestia, Sam Day, Caleb Marchbank, Jack Steele,Tom McDonald, Jack Watts (free agent), David Astbury, Tom Mitchell, Jake Lloyd, Andrew Gaff, Tom Lamb and Nathan Hrovat

That's 23 players. Obviously some to re-sign.
Plus the Essendon 12 particularly Hurley and Hibberd the only good ones left
Sam Day signed for 3 years now.
Would have been good at either end.

Had been thinking Chris Mayne could be a handy pick up as a free agent based on what I'd seen him do in previous years, but hadn't seen him play this year before tonight. He was horrendous. Just looked way too slow, always about 2-3 metres behind his opponent, chasing but rarely actually laying a decent tackle. Not sure if he's playing injured or already checked out of Freo which was showing in lacklustre effort, but based on what I saw tonight I hope we go nowhere near him when the free agency period rolls around.

What he served up tonight is what how he's been performing for the past 3 years. Yuck. Gross. Do not want.

Can't take a contested mark to save
Himself either. Perfect Petrie replacement.

You can guarantee we will be in the market for him if we lose Wood.

Thing is I thought it was his best game for a while

I'm really not sure what's happened to Mayne, lucky he gets a game each week.

One thing I've noticed is he's put on a huge amount of muscle on his legs, like Cyclist legs.

Yes a very real concern. If our 2017 side is In: Mayne Out: Wood then I suggest a crowd funding campaign to raise enough funds to pay Nahas and Wagner to turkey slap Cam Joyce to death.

It's becoming clearer that we need to make something happen come trade time to address our backline issues and midfield balance.

Will we be bold enough to trade away one of our inside mids to address a deficiency.

Still really keen on Hurley we are trying hard, hopefully we can convince him to come across.
And outside pace just find plenty of it.
Firrito, dal, Petrie ret.
Hopefully Hurley is still on holidays and never sees footage of tonight's game then.

When we have a look there is only one inside mid that is worth anything and that is possible to trade and that's Cunnington and Brad won't do that he loves cunners.
