Gaff and Rohan have attributes that we are lacking severely, i think both are out of contract, but not free agents, someone can correct me if wrong.
Not Rohan we have couple of those 10 disposal 40%de players, gaff on the other hand would be a mad upgrade on Gibson

Would retire Petrie /Waite /DalSanto and save some $$$
Chuck some serious $$$$ at Kelly or Cockatoo to jump ship.
Willing to trade out picks this year, but hit the draft next few years. Still think we have a core group with the retirements. Trade in some young talent.
Trade out, Picks 1 & 2, Hansen Dumont Black Mullet BMac.
Try Trade in, Marchbank Ahern Steele Tom Lamb Brad Crouch Lin Jong.

Opinions wanted on the following blokes

Lee Spurr - No, would prefer Sutcliffe or Sheridan over Spurr and Suban.
Nick Suban
Kane Mitchell - What role would he play? Rather have a go at Impey or Harlett again even though they are both contracted still.
Rory Atkins - YES! Or either of the Crouch brothers!

Add Kelly, Marchbank, Steele, Hurley S.Hill, Tom Cutler, B.Ellis, Clay Smith, Zac Williams, Michael Hibberd and Nathan Wilson to the list as well.

Atley needs to learn to use the ball better or he has to go...

Goodbye Firrito, Black, Petrie, Thompson(if we get a KPB), Nahas, Ray, and Hansen.

Maybe they've just played well against us, but I think all would improve us

Interesting. I think She rid an is mentally fragile after the preliminary final.
Suban has a good hoof, just keep him on the outside
Mitchell won a Sandover, has talent, could allow JZ to go forward
I'd rather get Impey but he wouldn't be traded

Some trade targets on our radar we should be looking at to enhance our best 22, take us to our next flag (probably in another 5-8 years) or fill a gap/need:

Adelaide:
Cam-Ellis Yolmen

GWS: (lots of talent there to pluck)
Jack Steele
Devon Smith
Adam Tomlinson
Caleb Marchbank
Jack Barrett

Gold Coast:
Brandon Matera
David Swallow

Free Agent:
Brendan Whitecross (Atley isn't progressing and developing into what he needs to be (half back drive), just trade atley to someone for pick upgrades / pick and grab this guy - booming kick off half back)
Clancee Pearce (because why not? sea change / pace?)

Melbourne:
Colin Garland

Saints:
If they delist Cameron Shenton, we could rookie him

Swans:
Xavier Richards worth a shot - not sure of currency - talented, good size (195cm/91kg), but wasting away in the NEAFL. Maybe swans will use him in 2017 (along with brandon Jack)?

Daniel Robinson (22) - not sure of his make up - another membrey story?

Western Bulldogs: (Another club with lots of young, hungry talent)

Joel Hamling (anyone seen him play VFL, not keen, would be his 3rd club)
Mitch Honeychurch - down the pecking order of course, and with there last lot of draftees, cant see him breaking in, worth a look, rookie or not
Nathan Hrovat - see above
Jack Redpath - I have been a fan of his for AGES, before the hype and most recent run of form. PLEASE can he come down and have a coffee with nicky dal + boomer... big, strong, hard working, busting goal kicking. 25 years old, perfect replacement for petrie and focal point up forward with BROWN (and when waite retires, smaller / medium forwards working off him)

EDIT: I forgot about Hibberd from Essendon. I think we should chase him.

Only interested in the GWS kids and honeychurch/hrovat. All the rest have shown they are limited at AFL level.

I like Cam Ellis Yoleman but he is an inside mid and we are certainly covered there - same with Hrovat. Theres not much pace up there really and Whitecross would have hardly anything left in his knees to be a reliable players in our team.

Devon Smith would go alright but if we are going to let go of some veterans and potentially drop out of the 8 I would prefer to go all out and get a future star like the pies did with Treloar. I know its not easy to do those sorts of things but we do have a couple of carrots we could dangle in the likes of Atley, Daw, Dumont. Not saying i necessarily want to trade those 3 but for a Treloar type I think it would be worth it

Don't waste your time worrying about other team's fringe players, they won't make us top 4 short or long term.

We need a quick/powerful/classy 6'3 midfielder in the Fyfe, Bont, Cripps, Danger mould. A game changer.
O'Meara (subject to medical) is the only one at this level whose chasing a new home so would be a priority.

We need a high IQ key position backman to compliment Taz. Hurley must be the first consideration in this area.

If we don't attract Hurley or O'Meara level of quality then clean the house and stock up on high draft picks.
Grab the best midfield talent over the next 2 years plus Tarryn as our academy get.

I don't want to be stuck in this merry-go-round of mediocrity (6th to 12th) forever, especially when GWS have a decade of dynasty ahead of them.

This. Couldn't have said it any better myself. :thumbsu:

Could this be the first year this thread is about who we're trading out, not who we'd like to trade in?

It probably should be given we have a few who could likely make way and be appealing to the opposition.

I dont think there is any chance we will trade Cunners so im not going to mention him - I dont think we should either

Dumont is one who we should consider trading. Swallow still has 2 -3 years left and hes replacement should actually be Clarke rather than Dumont. Dumont is a Cunners type in many ways and i dont think he will get a regular gig in our already very slow midfield

Atley - We either develop him into a mid/winger or we should trade him. I really dont think he is a natural defender so if we dont think hes cut out for midfield let him go - I think he would actually shine at another club under new coaching though so this one is a risk

Daw - if we dont think hes up to it, this is the year to trade him. Carlton got a very decent pick for Hampson who is a spud. Daw would be sought after by quite a few clubs so make a call NMFC and let the fans either support him week in week out in the blue and white or trade him

I think the combo of those 3 could land us some decent picks or potentially a decent player if packaged with a first rounder.

Realistically who do we have that has any currency that Scott would be willing to trade? I can think of maybe atley and that's about it.
I also agree to steer clear of any fringe players. Look at talented kids 2 or 3 years in or go to the draft.
I think we have a decent core of players to allow us to have a short rebuild. It will depend heavily on us nailing our last 2 drafts. Most of the talls and mids selected over the last couple of years need to be decent players.

My preferences in order of players speculated would be:

Hurley
Crouch
Gaff
Marchbank
Tomlinson
Steele
Mcdonald

I've left Omeara and Swallow out because of injuries, but would still have them high on list of priorities if medicals were passed.

Outside of these I think it's really just shuffling the deck chairs.

Tomlinson is rubbish.

Disagree with your opinion. I think we are way too quick to write of Key position players

Only 22 years old and still has a lot of development left in him. His first few years remind me a lot of Petrie, actually, been a lot better than Petrie.

McDonald, Garner, Jacobs, Higgins & Wright as ins make a fair difference in terms of strength and flexibility through mid, half back and half forward! No Fyfes and Dangers amongst them - but they're held in the regard they are cos they're rare. Still, the Nth guys mentioned are a great bunch of players.

Key defender is a tough one to fill though.
