need a big clean out at seasons end. for mine, no one should be off limits. After the weak performances Goldstein has served up in the past 6/8 weeks i would not be averse to looking for a club willing to part with 2 top 10 picks for him. I reckon it is essential that we trade up into the top 10 or even top 5 of the draft order in order to plan for the future. As demonstrated by recent picks in the late teens (Atley, Mckenzie, Durdin) who have proved disappointing/underwhelming at best, we should learn or lesson and actually look at our list demographic and notice that we have not had a top 5 pick for however long and that we should secure one. After all, you have to give up quality to get quality.

Hurley - Free Agent
Swallow & Hansen traded for O'Meara and 2nd round pick
Thompson to GWS for Marchbank
1st round pick and Black to Dockers for Hill

B: Marchbank, Tarrant, Atley
HB: McDonald, Hurley, Wright
C: Wells, Cunnington, Hill
HF: Higgins, Wood, Harvey
F: Daw, Brown, Thomas
Ruck: Goldy, Ziebell (C), O'Meara
Int: Anderson, Clarke, Jacobs, McMillan

Depth: Garner, Turner, McKenzie, Mullett, Wagner, Mountford, New draftees

Retire: Petrie, Waite, Dal Santo, Firrito, Ray, Nahas
That best 22 looks good Sherm, but if we get the run of injuries we got this year we are going to get spanked from here to eternity, are you missing some depth?

So we end up with O'Meara, Marchbank, Hill and Hurley and give up 1 x first round pick, 2 veterans and 2 blokes that are barely above VFL level.

Where do I sign?

Mate I agree, the way I see it we're going to have depth issues either way we go - full rebuild or not.

Sherm's wet dreams..
Hurley - for free.
O'Meara - suspect long term fitness if he choses a destination club GC will have to deal.
Hill - 1st rounder warranted and with ol' mate Mayne in the move they will grab any 3rd string Forward to plug a gap (ok throw in Arjen as a sweetener).
Marchbank - see above GWS salary cap squeeze will work wonders for Vic clubs.

Signed, sealed and delivered - Euge made it happen.

In reality..
No trades
NDS, Drew, Spud, Thommo, Waite all sign 3 year deals..

If we continue to lose and for some reason we miss the 8 we will become the AFL laughing stock and no young talent will not come to us and the only players we will attract will be the 27,28,29 year old Journeymen that have been at 1 to 2 clubs but for $50 all the problems we can go away just get a big kitchen spoon a big rubbish bin and some cement from Bunnings and put the chairman,The Board, coaching staff and the players all in a Indian file straight line and make them eat a bit of cement and HTFU and get on with it stop the BS and play football

From the players out of contract thread https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/players-out-of-contract-2016.1118711/

The best ones available would be Brad Crouch, Josh Jenkins, Lewis Taylor, Darcy Gardiner, Nathan Brown (free agent), Jayden Laverde, Michael Barlow, Ed Langdon, Chris Mayne (free agent), Shane Kersten, Jaeger O'Meara, Dion Prestia, Caleb Marchbank, Jack Steele,Tom McDonald, Jack Watts (free agent), David Astbury, Tom Mitchell, Jake Lloyd, Andrew Gaff, Tom Lamb and Nathan Hrovat

That's 22 players. Obviously some to re-sign.
Plus the Essendon 12 Hurley and Hibberd the only good ones left
Can take Jenkins and Watts off the list.
Jenkins re-signed for 5 years and Watts for 3 years.

Next to nothing left in terms of free agents. Nathan Brown the only free agent worth targeting to fill the KPD hole if we can't get Hurley, Marchbank or Tom McDonald

And now Gaff off the list, re-signed another 2 years
