Any player can look good against Shitmond. He's not just soft, he's small, his kicking is loopy and without penetration, he has taken 5 contested marks in 80 games, he doesn't tackle, hardly kicks goals, only finds an adequate amount of footy. Smart enough, runs all day and has genuine speed but Harro is right, absolutely carried by Hawthorns.
You forgot he only has 3 flags.
Every good side has them. Every good side needs them.
If he didn't play an important role he wouldn't be playing. It's not like they don't have any handy replacements.

we're not in the running for Hurley, prefers Bulldogs, Sydney or Essendon stay
If that is the case then I'd be redirecting any salary cap space/trade chips onto a midfielder. The other KPDs out there offer nothing that Joel Tippet couldn't provide.

Or the forgotten one Daniel 'Leslie' Neilson

To be honest, we should target some 20-23 year old's, i'd even consider trading Goldstein to get these. Omera, Swallow, Prestia are fantastic but i think Hrovat, Honeychuch, Dale from dogs are all jets but can't get games. I think we could get all 3 for maybe pick 30-40 each. I like honeychurch myself good outside player.

Preussy and Daw would be a decent tandem.

Ruckman are overrated in the scheme of things, especially with everyone going 3rd man up.

I was being facetious, but geez, it's tempting.
It's unlikely our club doesn't have the balls to do it. McEvoy saints were ballsy enough to trade and got pick 17 and Savage, i think that ended up being Dunstan and savage. Win for them in my opinion. Goldstein worth a lot more. And a club like dogs would give a lot for him.. but ehh we would never

Omg we're trading Goldstein again. We're not even getting pick 1 this time, just two players with as many working knees between them and a human meatball.
I was joking, I retract my ludicrous attempt at humour.

Trading Goldstein would be lunacy. I'm Harry the Hatchet on a good day, but not even I would consider it.

He and Tarrant are the only two players we have developed into absolute A-Grade consistent guns of the competition.

Swallow
Atley
Wright
Black
Gibson
Thompson

Those are the 6 names I would be shopping around if we don't win the flag.

What use is Goldstein at age 29, when really i doubt we can challenge for a flag in the next 2-3 years

Putting my B-Tron/TOD hat on.... Culturally it would be unacceptable. You can't ask players to stay and possibly take less than their open market worth and turn around and shop them around a year or two later.

It's a poor example for the younger players and one our club would never stand for, I would have thought.

In saying all of that, you are probably right, we wouldn't have the balls and yes it would make perfect sense in terms of kickstarting a reset.
