Prestia would be a good get , no to two years of R1 picks though, that price for Treloar was bs , coll will attest to that when they see a top 3 pick go north
umm...with all due respect, from what I have seen this year, disregarding the shit truck the scum have become, the one thing that has stood out is how ******* good this Treloar kid is...super gun who will be better than Danger and or Ablett in a couple of years..the kid is just copy book in every facet of footy, IMO they got a bargain

Just remember there are safe guards in place with round 1 picks that are future traded. If it ends up at top 5 pick we might see what those safe guards are (undoubtedly coll will get their pick back and pay the year after).

lmaooo....we can revisit this post in 4 years FFS....but if i were a betting man i would have you in red figures to have NFI ;)
If you were a betting man, bookies could retire to the Bahamas.

Better than Danger and or Ablett. FFS is right, dude. See you in four years.

lets put it this way, Danger at Treloar's age was the biggest turn over merchant on the planet..

To put abit more perspective to your NFIness...lucky for the comp GWS couldnt keep him and lucky for the scum they got him before this year....;)

You're taking the piss, surely. Ablett is arguably the best midfielder of all time and you think Adam Treloar is going to emulate him? Even the Pies supporters are stinking up about the Treloar trade.

"The AFL also looked at a form of pick protection to guard against clubs trading a future draft pick and then have an unexpectedly poor year ensuring that pick suddenly became more valuable than anticipated.

The league is conscious of protecting clubs from selling too large a part of their future, and having to step in to clean up any mess."

and another:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-07-20/plan-to-protect-clubs-from-trading-away-draft-future

"It would mean, for example, that if a team traded a protected pick in a future draft and that selection ends up being in the top five selections when the draft happens, the original team keeps the pick."

So while nothing is set in stone the possibility of the AFL stepping in and doing something about it is pretty real. There was enough talk about it, it's collingwood... and we have no idea what the terms and conditions of the trade were.

I'm pretty sure there is no safe guard. I heard they were considering it, but didn't have it implemented. I personally don't think there should be a safe guard. The club recieving that pick may be planning their list management around recieving that pick on that year. Also what if the club who traded the is very poor for 3-4 years and the club who is recieving it won't see it for several years after the trade?

there was talk about it (as i've posted links to previously) if it really exists or not we don't know. its could be apart of the conditions of the trade. i agree it shouldnt exist as thats the risk you take. but its collingwood and eddie willkick up a fuss like normally does and eventually get his way im sure.

So the original team gets a player and then gets their pick back the following year if they have a crap season ? Or am I missing something ?.
Under this proposed system one team in the trade could end up getting screwed big time.

yep pretty much. they'd possibly get access to the pick the year after. there is nothing concrete saying it is implemented, but from the articles its supposed to be written in the terms and conditions of the trade. so besides the AFL, pies and GWS no one knows what will happen with that situation as an example.

I'll help you out here fellas, there is no safeguard to trading future picks, if you trade it away you are not getting it back.

1. Instead, to protect clubs from throwing away their future the AFL introduced a 4 year block where in that block you must have two 1st round selections, so the pies and cats having traded away their 2015 and 2016 1st rounders are not allowed to trade their 2017/18 1st rounders unless they sell back into it.

2. It was also thought that allowing your pick to be returned to you by finishing bottom 5 that it might encourage tanking if that team was out of the finals race in the second half of the season.

Really , wasn't aware of that , still , even if it were 5-7 , is a bloody high price. Should be r1 + player ,,,,we shaped that deal with Treloar and my guess is RFC thought coll would baulk at the price , anyways don't do it with prestia

He wasn't the best mid fielder of all time at the same point in his career as what Treloar is. As for the pies supporters etc stinking up. They are like richoatthedisco. They have NFI. Watch this kid and how he handles the ball and what he does. It's basically faultless and that isn't an exaggeration

CoggaRules the whole "better at the same age" argument just doesn't fly with Ablett. Every half decent midfielder in the league was "better at the same age" up until Ablett turned 23. Cotchin, Martin, Deledio, even Brandon Ellis we're all "better at the same age".

Also, I'll gladly take you up on that bet about Treloar being better than Ablett in 4 years time. I'm absolutely positive that Treloar will have a better season than Ablett in 2020.

It would be so typical if Prestia ends up at Melbourne. I saw a recent article that Melbourne and Richmond are chasing him, and Melbourne have been after him since last year if I remember correctly
