who is

who is going to ruck sunshine? we are stuck with hampson for one more year, maric will retire at seasons end

Hampson chances of staying another year have definitely been helped by Ivan almost certainly retiring and his improved form.
We'll need another Ruckman to replace Ivan, if we get rid of Hammer we'll need 2.

It's funny people want to cut and cut regarding the list but when it comes to the crunch they're not so keen on cutting hard.

As for you query, did you not read where I said that by trading away some players with value we could snare ourselves a young ruck preferably one that is ready to go from 2017. If not I would put Griffiths in the ruck full time and elevate Soldo on the senior list as well and use them either in tandem or, with Hampson to remain on the list, play them with him while they develop in the role.

I think we could seriously do what Dunstall suggested, trade out Cotchin, Rance, JR, Lids, as well as Edwards in terms of trading out 25+ or whatever he said

If 2017 draft is as strong as some suggests its not that stupid as opposed to the 2004 scenario.

I think we could cherry pick a few though but I think the likelihood of some big guns moving could be increasing

Lol wot. Because I want to trade Brandon Ellis?

Nah trading in players similar in age to Ellis and Vlastuin and so forth is a little to simplistic.Sure that can be part of it be not the main drive of the list build to get real results IMO.

For example getting GWS players down the track like a Shiel or whoever will not be the main driver of our list development. Our list has too many holes for that.

Shiel as a nice elite top up player like a Scully or Tomilison would e good but we still need big gains to get were we need to through the draft really IMO. We need to expense real pain for a change and grow up before we can succeed finally!

Adam Saad thinking of getting out according to Tom Browne.....shake the GC tree....issues with Rocket I'm guessing.
Would be great for us. Need someone to take the small forwards and he does it well whilst providing great rebound.

I think playing with Houli would be attractive for him too

B. Ellis for Billy Longer
Michael Hurley FA
Our first for Dion Prestia
Liam McBean for pick 35 - 40 (to Essendon or Carlton)
Ben Lennon + our third for Jack Steele and GWS pick ~70

Sorted.
Brandon Ellis for a bonafide number one ruck? Yes please.

Michael Hurley to join Rance in defence? Suits me fine.

Pick 6 ish for Prestia? Nope. Not for me.

Liam McBean for a second rounder would be OK for me. Because our coach has totally ****** him.

We aren't getting Steele for Ben Lennon and a third. This is where I'd be offering Shane Edwards for Jack Steele. Getting a 188cm Steele to go with Vlastuin and Martin in the guts would be fantastic. His age profile is outstanding also. Yep we lose a good player in Edwards that could help get GWS a flag but this move helps us more.

Our 2017 draft will probably be okay even without collecting a bunch of high picks because we've got Patrick Naish, Bailey Lambert and Josh Broderick as father-sons. I don't know a lot about them, but I'm pretty sure Naish and Lambert are projected to be first round picks at this stage

I think we cs rebuild as quickly as the cats... Need a ruck an a grade inside midfielder and a decent defender....

Prestia, Nicholls for our first rounder and then find someone thru free agency or hope to hell that Nathan broad can come good

Not sure he is that great of a need. Have Yarran to come back into the side who is a better player when motivated (confident he will be motivated for us), whilst Houli is a similar player. Our backline needs a couple of new faces but in terms of small defenders I'm confident with who we already have.

Brandon Ellis for a bonafide number one ruck? Yes please.
Longer a bonafide number one ruck??? Don't think he has done anything close to proving that and certainly isn't work Ellis who a better coach would have playing at AA level. Longer should definitely be a target of ours but not someone we should be over paying for.

Michael Hurley to join Rance in defence? Suits me fine.
Think this is a pipe dream but whilst their is an a slim opportunity of it happening we should be aggressively pursuing it. Hell did you see the performance Chaplin conjured up on Friday. Pathetic.

Pick 6 ish for Prestia? Nope. Not for me.

Liam McBean for a second rounder would be OK for me. Because our coach has totally stuffed him.
Prestia is a gun, worthy of pick 6 but at the same time whoever is a available at pick 6 in this draft might also be a gun. Have to wait and see I guess and should know more post Champs.

We aren't getting Steele for Ben Lennon and a third. This is where I'd be offering Shane Edwards for Jack Steele. Getting a 188cm Steele to go with Vlastuin and Martin in the guts would be fantastic. Steele isn't setting the world on fire. Good player but his development could go either way. Could become the next Callum Ward or might not ever be able to break the 20 disposals a game barrier consistently. Won't know more until he is given proper midfield minutes. Don't think GWS would have much interest in anyone on our list outside of those we consider untouchable. We offer Shane Edwards they already have Paul Ahern, Jarrod Pickett in their two's, let alone Toby Greene and Devon Smith in their 22 already.

Hopper could be someone to go after if he doesn't get any game time this year. Would be worthy of pick 6.

Shane Edwards is not an A grader people.

Only one player who gets under 18 possessions a game who should be classed as one and that's Cyril.

He simply doesn't do enough often enough to justify it and IF we can get a piece to help us improve in an area of deficiency, say Ruck, or nab us another first rounder, I'd be happy to let him go.

Keep repeating it. Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Riewoldt and Rance. They are our core who can't be traded. Build around them.
I Agree, maybe with McIntosh, Miles, C.Ellis,Rioli, and not 2 Many more. We need to Trade as much as we can, and delist the duds Taylor Hunt, ect ect

Witts scubber no good
I reckon there is something there with Witts as a full time ruck. He has some footy nous in him and he stands at 209cm tall. Also has neat skills and can go forward.

He lacks aggression which is a pet hate for me and ruckman but, I reckon in today's game you have a guy that can break even with most in the ruck it goes along way to getting results.

He's not my number one target but he's on a list for me. Can't go past his positives and the fact he is 209cm. A bit of Greg Stafford in him if developed right.

Nope not good enough. We really need at least 10 quality draft picks over the 2016 to 2017 drafts.

Nash, Lambert and Broderick might be handy getting some reasonable quality later in the draft as a compliment but we really need to be targeting draft gun picks.

In fact if we are really serious and rate Naish, Lambert and Broderick we need to get very good players around that we failed to do with Lids which means they provide another reason trade trade out our guns for younger GWS//Bulldogs players and/or draft picks particularly 2017draft so you have a list similar to develop like the Geelong power house and GWS of the past and GWS's current crop.

In fact to target youngsters like Treloar it would make sense to say we are building a new generation with Naish, Broderick, Lambert as well as some draft guns around them and we will target more mature guns later even via FA when selling a reasonable future to trade hopefuls that are younger now.

I think the only way for some to save their jobs now in the footy dept is to go hard youth and hard draft!!
