There's no evidence greater of how to build a team than following the Sydney model.

Talk about whatever you want to and the fads that come and go, but have a look at their record since 2003. Remarkable.
1. Get millions and millions and millions more out of the AFL so you can employ the best people
2. Get COLA that equates to an extra two A-graders
3. Use COLA to give superstar nine-year contract that the AFL will ensure doesn't hurt you if he only lasts six
4. Get the best player in the draft at pick 18 because no one else is allowed to draft him.

But yes, they are well-run. Stuart Maxfield (acquired under the 'Sydney are so shit they're allowed to steal your players' rule) has done very well.

No because they have had the advantage with Academy picks and COLA.

You don't need to be the greatest kick nor the quickest player. What you need to be is the ones prepared to put your head over the footy and win it at all costs, if you don't win it ensure that your opponents don't get an easy possession. If you do win it drive it forwards however you can and back your teammates up the ground to at worse halve the contest. If the contest is halved the regroup at the next stoppage and go again.

Their concessions are ridiculous, although they develop talent very well.

All about effectiveness, we are ineffective with our possessions as were the Cats tonight. Just about won every stat and still lost the game.

If you dont have the right cattle who have footy smarts and the necessary skill set then effective footy is always going to be difficult.

The Cats tonight and us for most of the season were guilty of making under pressure turnovers (we are also kings of the non pressure turnover) which will kill you every time against the better defence to attack transitioning sides and its especially the case at the frenetic pace of finals footy.

Whether the Swans use reaction speed as a measure or whatever they use to assess recruits we need to follow suit because they just seem to pump out these robotic style players who simply know what its all about rather then the deer in headlight sorts we seem to attract.

Mitchell talk by Barrett sounds good by not sure how we can get both Prestia and Mitchell without ruling ourselves out of the draft for the next 2 years. Would have to pay a premium for Mitchell now, would rather have a crack at Zac Jones, looks really promising.

Depending on where gws finish we should trade our pick 6 for there pick 15 and 16_18

Trade pick 15 and conca to gold coast for prestia and a late pick

Trade 16-18 and edwards to sydey for mitchell and maybe late pick

Keep delideo

Keep 2017 first pick

Take vickery compo and lennon pick to the draft for some kpp our midfield is sorted with prestia and mitchell find a young forward and defender in the draft and where on our way to bigger and better things and maybe find a ruckmen in trade for a late pick as back up.
