hes a spud, cant hit a target, soft as butter, cant even handball

momentum killer

get rid of him for anything before we have to delist him. he cannot hit a simple 15 metre pass which most of us can do blindfolded

hes one that u dont want in your team
How did he make the AA squad then?

Gud 1. He was fantastic that year and is a good player. Absolutely no reason he wont get back to that once we have a game plan that allows more running and open space
his worst is rubbish and he has been that for 2 years now

cant afford to have him in the side. trade

Agreed, if we go back to that gameplan.

Everyone on this board seems to have memories that only extend the last 10 or so games, yes Ellis was awful this year, but he's shown before he can play at this level and play well, it's not his fault he was forced into a position were all his weaknesses were highlighted.

Would I trade him for Prestia? Hell yeah.

Do I think he's a useless, failed draft pick? Not yet, he's just being played so far out of his natural position it hurts, awful coaching.

Rubbish. Even in the Bulldogs game that was open and free flowing he was still kicking the ball backwards and sideways.................that's when he wasn't holding up the play with his indecision.

Anderson going with edwards brandon and conca for prestia. I do know we are desperate to keep our first and thamt is one way to do it but will gcs take it?
at least 2 of those could get us a 2nd rounder on thier own, so if trading all 3 i'd want something back as well

Long term good idea, short term probably not. Would hurt our depth next year. Essentially 3 of our best 25 and swapping them for 1 player. If Hardwick thinks we have a team capable of playing finals next year then he must rate them. Pick 6 isn't going to come straight into the team next year and be in the best 25. Hardwick is all about next year, not long term, as he knows anything less than finals will result in him being without a job.
i disagree here, there will be a ready to go Mid that will come str8 into the side from Rd 1 next yr. we clearly know this as we are desperate to keep the pick.

Also Ellis is younger than Prestia and has played more games and nearly has the same amount of brownlow votes.
Ellis is getting pretty underrated here. With a proper game plan he is a very good player.
Ellis is a good player in a side that is playing well, i agree there but i can't recall the last time he got the ball & even looked fwd before kicking it backwards or sideways....

This isnt a player issue tho. Its not like he as a player can not kick forward.
Thats just the way he and the rest of the team is coached. Get a aggresive and attacking game plan and he will go back to running forward and gaining lots of metres

It's about time we added some more grunt and big bodies to help Martin and Lids out..... I cringe every time we get knocked off the ball, or we cannot hold a tackle.... when we do actually tackle.
Can I ask RFC to pump up the gym sessions in the off-season?
we need to spend the off season with the Melbourne Storm, we'd be the best tackling side next year bar none!

In 2014 he averaged 410m gained, this year he averaged 310m. This is because the way he has been coached and told to play, not how he plays

IMO clubs should be able to start trading after the byes in the middle of the year.
Clubs will be able to set up better for a tilt at a flag while the lower clubs may be able to get more draft picks.

Maybe the signs were there last trade period but this season what credibility the club had earned in recent years was more or less lost and we're again back to being a bit of a laughing stock.

IMO, the time has come for the club to come out swinging. I've been an advocate for stability for the last few years but this season we went back at an alarming rate - perhaps due to not taking enough risks to achieve that next step.

A very harsh review of everyone within the football department - coaches, staff and players needs to happen and if people need to be moved on/replaced with better credentialed people from outside the club so be it. A new gameplan for 2017 and beyond needs to be hashed out and the players needed to make that style work need to be considered. We need to attack the trade period aggressively and bring in the right kinds of players to both carry out the gameplan but to also bring back hope and optimism for the supporters who've lost confidence and belief in the club. Players who don't fit the future plans or who haven't come along as expected should be moved on or made available - barring probably Rance, Martin, Riewoldt and maybe Cotch, everyone else should be available at the right price/open to a possible trade IMO.
