i disagree here, there will be a ready to go Mid that will come str8 into the side from Rd 1 next yr. we clearly know this as we are desperate to keep the pick.
Andrew McGrath looks ready to play senior footy. Think he had 41 last weekend. Very quick (elite athlete) solidly built inside outside type i think. Will be thereabouts at pick 6

So if Dimma is serious that we're gonna be aggressive at trade period - the club should be doing whatever it can to do the Prestia/O'Meara double.

Token bullshit trades are good enough this year.
Would be one hell of a statement, but I'm hesitant on O'Meara.

It's a risk worth taking. And if we did take it, and his knee blew out, I wouldn't hold it against the club - because it's the kind of gutsy move we need to make...

Cause whatever Dimma says, we ain't just gonna bounce back with Just Prestia and what we've got.

hate them all
Maybe the signs were there last trade period but this season what credibility the club had earned in recent years was more or less lost and we're again back to being a bit of a laughing stock.

IMO, the time has come for the club to come out swinging. I've been an advocate for stability for the last few years but this season we went back at an alarming rate - perhaps due to not taking enough risks to achieve that next step.

A very harsh review of everyone within the football department - coaches, staff and players needs to happen and if people need to be moved on/replaced with better credentialed people from outside the club so be it. A new gameplan for 2017 and beyond needs to be hashed out and the players needed to make that style work need to be considered. We need to attack the trade period aggressively and bring in the right kinds of players to both carry out the gameplan but to also bring back hope and optimism for the supporters who've lost confidence and belief in the club. Players who don't fit the future plans or who haven't come along as expected should be moved on or made available - barring probably Rance, Martin, Riewoldt and maybe Cotch, everyone else should be available at the right price/open to a possible trade IMO.
i'd add Rioli/Markov/younger brigade to that list, the middle tier is all open. with a bit of luck we'll be a more attacking side like our VFL side has been in the 2nd half of the year etc. IMO we need to trade for early picks & do some damage in the Draft

We wouldn't have a first round pick for this year or next year if we tried to do the double. I wouldn't be completely against us trying to get it done on the proviso that a thorough medical is done on O'Meara. Head to toe. Three times over.

Gud 1. He was fantastic that year and is a good player. Absolutely no reason he wont get back to that once we have a game plan that allows more running and open space
he is a runner who isnt a great competitor , which puts him alongside houli and grigg. On the other side we have lambert , miles and vlaustin who are competitors who cant run.
It is the same old story across the majority of the list , blokes are either plodders or soft cocks.

Surely we must trade for a KPP player like Paton, Wright or even Boyd, that is a statement the club needs to do, I want as many kids with picks below 40 that we can get but if we can add Prestia and a very good key pick which will mean you have to give something then we have to do it, going to the draft for key players at this stage does nothing for our solid core group but a key forward, quality midfielder and a few reasonably high picks could bring us back up along with a new GAME PLAN PLEASE !!!

Why would we use the trade period to draft talls, when it has proven so successful for Hawthorn, Sydney and Geelong.
Seems to logical.

Anderson going with edwards brandon and conca for prestia. I do know we are desperate to keep our first and thamt is one way to do it but will gcs take it?
Where'd you hear this?

It'd be funny to see all three of them at another team, GCS would basically become Richmond.

That said those three would probably end up stars at GCS :(
They'll have Ablett and some awesome key position players alongside them, not to mention some gun smalls coming through and more academy players + high draft picks coming in.

Anyway, I would do Conca, B. Ellis and Edwards for Prestia and THEIR second (not our old second).

I have to agree with this.
People saying it is the wrong time to bottom out..... therefore we are at the crossroads? Do we go all out only to probably risk totally bottoming out? Or do we just accept the middle of the table result again??
I'm a bit over the season being shot midway through the season and then cheering home the consolation wins........

I'd say just go all out. Look at what geelong did last year. We need to trade like that i think. Otherwise we'll just be rebuilding to mediocrity for another 5 years. Get prestia, o'meara, and jack steele. Plus a tall from gws like patton or lobb.
The only players not up for trade are:
Dusty
Rance
Cotchin
Riewoldt
And the young guys like Corey ellis, vlastuin, menadue, markov, and rioili.

Would happily trade a young small if it got us a KPF to help Jack.

Totally agree but the problem is that doesn't leave much else to trade. It leaves pick 6 this year, first and second round of next year, and the following players; B Ellis, Edwards, Vickery (FA), Conca, Griffiths (not sure on contract status), Lennon and maybe Batchelor, not that he's worth much.

Would 2 first rounders + all those players get Prestia, O'meara, Steele and Patton... no chance, O'meara is 2 first rounders on his own.

Those four would slot nicely into our team though...

Think BEllis and pick 6 would net us Jaeger.
Steele is probably not required if we are going for Prestia and O'Meara.
Prestia 2017 first round pick.
Patton - Vickery compo pick and Shane Edwards? Probably not enough for Patton so we may need to get creative.

Front load and get Fyfe next year
Going to have cap space either way with Vickery, Maric (hopefully), Chaplin, Batchelor (hopefully) and Conca (OOC) moving on. With Grigg and Morris being moved on at the end of next season. Whilst I would still trade Edwards and B.Ellis just not to Gold Coast in exchange only for Prestia (would want something else coming back), if nothing else came back I would be going after picks (late first).

I'm happy to trade next years first for Prestia and bank on landing a big name free agent next year. Even if we end up with low pick next year we still could potentially walk away with Prestia and Fyfe/Kennedy (big name, not necessarily those two). Which would be better than anything we could get with a high pick.
