It lacks imposing key forward like a Paddy McCartin but the likes of Sproule, Kerr and Battle could make very good third talls. Key defenders is also similar with the likes of Garthwaite and Cox being good options in the second round onwards.
Having watched the U17 game on the weekend I'm not sure the key talls in that draft are as promising as they are being made out. A lot of them are big and strong but don't have the athleticism the best forwards have, although that could change between now and the time of the draft.
Trengove Pittard S.Gray Hombsch Young. Those 5 may not be top line talent but they are important to Port and will no doubt be wanting some extra coin next year to hang around and that's before any approaches to new players. So as I said they have the want and need to move on Hartlett if they can, unfortunately they backed themselves into a corner last year when they got spooked and signed him up on big money.
We will be fine to sign all of the players that you mentioned as well as wines.
Schulz and Carlile off our list has already freed up space. There are also rumoured to be 12 other senior listed players on the trade table besides Hartlett, including Lobbe who is also on good coin.
Any cap pressure we have, be it real or perceived, will be resolved with or without trading Hartlett.
Trading Hartlett is about securing picks more than any salary cap issue.

If we shouldn't target a 26yo, then by what reasoning should we keep a 29yo (next year) Jack Riewoldt going forward? In my opinion, we either offload 30yo Deledio + 29yo Riewoldt for picks, or we keep both and aim for Top 4 over the coming 3 years (which means targeting the likes of Hartlett).
We are reluctant to trade in 26 year olds but when 28/29 year olds are already on our list, we have no problem keeping them. Clearly that's a contradiction of philosophy brought on by feelings of loyalty.
That's quite right and in my view it's one or the other, IMHO we have a collective of well credetialled players at a fine point that we could build a good side around. And I support this by saying it would be a **** load harder building a side without those players. We bring in 4-5 senior players that can make an impact , we will take a giant step forward
Look Hartlett had a shit year, but that's why he's available. Yeah he's a risk but you have to back in that his best is ahead of him. Personally I'm all for the risky strategy. It's better that recruiting Townsend and Moore. At least they are aggressively trying to change things. It may go wrong, but it could just propel us straight back up.
One things for sure. Doing nothing will achieve nothing.
Every team has different needs. Collingwood were crying out for a Swan/Beams replacement i.e. superstar midfielder who can put a team on his back, as with the exception of Pendlebury they don't have any other midfielders capable of that. With Martin and Cotchin already in our side we didn't require that type of midfielder but had we needed a superstar midfielder the cost of two first rounders would have been worthy of it.
You're probably right.
Remains to be seen wether they'd even be interested in someone like Lennon.
Kid has always seemed like a prima donna to me.
If we can secure Hartlett and Prestia and keep pick 6, I'd say that's a massive off-season win for the club.
Id rather edwards than hartlett.. hartletts contract and durability are massive concerns.
Prestia is going to be on massive coin. So will dusty when he recommits. We dont need to spend money on hartlett when we dont need to
I'm over Edwards , had a terrible 2016, I realise he can play better than that however his finals performances are haunting.and that is enough to change the mix . If the choice between he and HH I'd take Hartlett
sounds like bullshit but the way he went on about it on trade radio. well boak/gray/hartlett/wingard/dixon/westhoff/ryder/wines/ maybe anus wantfrees would all be on good coin
Everyone is placing a lot of faith in Balme. The same guy who oversaw the pies and let's be honest. Most of us have been hanging a fair amount of shit on them of late.
I don't see him as the great white hope that many do. A good pick up sure. Our savior? **** no
Winning games means nothing.
We will win games if we do it, but it's just papering the cracks.
I'd rather us do it properly and i would cop us being on the bottom it wouldn't bother me.

Taking into consideration that Prestia is going and GC will want to get something for him, whilst also taking into account that due to the offer he has from RFC, we would get him in the preseason draft, I think all it will take is a player, like Lennon, Conca, B Ellis, Edwards, Miles and our 3rd round pick.

pies have lots of needs. there backline is a mess and there forwardline not much better. they have also wasted first rounders on scharenberg and freeman not to mention losing 2 for treloar. they have howe on big money and same with greenwood. they are also looking at bringing in a spud on mayne on at least 1.5mil and a cooked wells
